Accommodation, service, breakfast and all special touches proved the hotel to be an ideal base to explore Cape Town.
The decor and bedrooms were lovely and the hosts were so helpful in advising places to eat etc. would have no hesitation to recommend the hotel and would love to visit again

We are a young couple in our late 20s and stayed at an African Villa at the start of March 2014. It was our first experience of Cape Town and the hosts were very helpful with guidance and tours to suit our needs. The bed was amazingly comfortable, breakfast was beautiful and location is excellent. It is a safe walk from many lovely restaurants and an excellent base for exploring Cape Town. Views of Table Mountain was lovely. I would recommend a stay here for friends and family of all ages. Thank You!

The Villa came highly recommended by a close friend that travels frequently between his home in the U.S. and his other home about two and a half hours north of Cape Town. Because of the distance he frequently stays here and now we know why. Our good experience started when Cathy contacted Louie, one of the owners, who was extremely helpful with arranging our stay (we had to be a little flexible on the dates) and offering a wealth of information on tour guides, sights to see and restaurants. We arrived in the late evening and departed very early and on both occasions there was a staff member present to assist us (they even offered a box breakfast on departure). The entire staff is friendly and helpful and want the guests to have the absolute best experience possible. Keith and Cindy, the other owners, were just as helpful as Louie. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, breakfast was outstanding (served on the patio in good weather) and the location is perfect to walk to the center of the city and there were restaurants nearby, also. One quick tidbit, because of our need for flexibility we ended up in a fairly small room but after our second night a much larger room with balcony (a little more per night but well worth it) became available and they insisted that we would enjoy it much more, they were correct. This is not a five star hotel, for us it is much better because of being treated like family and we genuinely enjoyed what these partners have done to combine three old row houses in to a delightful boutique hotel.

Room Tip: Check on the availability of the larger rooms with a balcony, a little more cost but we thought that...

Can recommend the Villa for anyone wanting well located and classy boutique accommodation in Cape Town. We had two separate visits, and each time the rooms were perfect. All the staff are welcoming and willing to assist guests in finding their about Cape Town.
A special thanks to Louis, who ,on realizing the shortage of taxi,s on a particular night, offered to drive us to the Pot Luck Club restaurant ( by the way ,this is a must for any Cape Town visitor, but you will need to book well in advance),so we could there for our diner reservation.

We moved to An African Villa from accommodation in Camps Bay and we were initially regretting not staying there for our whole time in Cape Town but we needn't have worried. Staying in the 2 locations even though they were only a drive up and down Kloof Nek Road gave a great comparison to the city.

An African Villa is 3 terraced houses that have been knocked through into one accommodation - its like a tardis. So you have accommodation in houses A, B and C. We were in B5 which is a beautiful large room just off the main lounge area on the ground floor. The room was great - very comfortable and the owners have thought of everything. The only downside for us was that we do like a lie in when we are on holiday (or at least have the ability to have this as an option)...unfortunately the room's patio doors open directly onto the pool area and in the morning if the weather is good enough, breakfast is served out there. So unfortunately the setting up of breakfast by the staff and the conversations of guests whilst having their breakfasts easily carries into the room,,,if you are an early bird though I get that this wouldn't be a issue for you.

The location is great - if you have hired a car, you can park outside on the street. Shops and restaurants with a great vibe/buzz are a 5 minute walk away. The owners will point you in the right direction and make good recommodations if required.

We were on a very late flight out of Cape Town and we were able to make use of the facilities at An African Villa during the day even though we'd checked out of our room at 11 am - there is a shower room available you just need to book it.

We met up with some friends of friends and they told us that their brother always stays at An African Villa when they come to visit them from Australia - in a city where there is so much accommodation available this shows what a point of difference Louise and his team have here. Thanks again it was fab.

Room Tip: If a lie in is important - ask for a room upstairs.

Thanks to you and your wonderful staff for a great stay recently. Beautiful rooms, stunning Tabletop view! You looked after us so well, and were always there to offer the extra caring touch. Thank you so much Sandiso for the beautiful table setting for our enforced night in with takeaway food after I sprained my ankle, and the ice pack and indulgence as I spread out on the lounge cushions with your complimentary drinks. Great breakfasts, and such professional staff all round. Not sure if Brandy would have opened an eye for a burglar, but reassuring to see him draped by the door?! Cheers folks, we will recommend you.

Room Tip: A2 and B2 have great views

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
