I was warmly welcomed by Keith who took great care of me. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Good location close to Table Mountain and only 10 mnutes by car to Waterfront. Very nice breakfast.

We stayed at an African Villa for 4 nights while on honeymoon in South Africa in March. We arrived a little earlier than the check in time, which wasn't a problem as Cindy (one of the guest house owners) was very welcoming. We had a tour of the beautiful guest house and then we sat in the garden for a welcome drink and chat about tours, including where the guest house was in relation to all the main attractions and restaurants in the area. As this was our first time to Cape Town, we found this to be invaluable. The rest of our stay was to the same high standard, with lovely breakfasts each morning, all staff members were very helpful when we were looking for restaurants (our favourites were the Opal Lounge & Miller's Thumb) and were happy to make reservations on our behalf. There are lots of restaurants in the local area which were all in walking distance and we always felt safe. We had hired a car and were initially worried about parking, but it wasn't a problem. There was ample space along the roadside and the local residents pay a guard to watch them at night. We really enjoyed our stay at An Africa Villa and are looking forward to staying there again in the future. We would highly recommend it as a place to stay while exploring Cape Town.

Very well presented in brouchure.
An African Villa is in a nice quiet location with a few nice reataurants within a 10 min walk.
Arrived early greeted by Keith who was very welcoming and helpful with map, info, advice & more importantly tea & coffee.
Booked a gold room which was lovely and large but unfortnately above the kitchen. Disappointed to be woken by kitchen noise and smell of cooking. Having said that the breakfast was good.
Rooms spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the evening sherry & port. Disappointed the red apples (beautifully placed) and complimentary 'cookies' (1 mini pack jammie dodgers) were not replaced after the first night, face cloths removed and not replaced and did not see any complimentary afternoon cake (which was mentioned in ad). Admittedly I did not have chance to comment until leaving as late back at night but disappointed - the little things make a difference.
After a hectic long day enjoyed being able to order a take away and provided with plates and cutlery. Appreciated feeling being able to eat in and chill after all the sight seeing.
Would I recommend to a friend? Yes but there are other hotels in this area offering this type of accomodation.

We loved our time at the beautifully (African) decorated B&B. The residential neighborhood was safe with nearby restaurants that we could walk to. (and also a cheap cab-ride to V&A) The hosts were responsive during the reservation process, upon check-in provided a comprehensive city and neighborhood guide, and gave friendly advice throughout our time there. Breakfast was served in a cute patio. Room was clean; bed was firm; hot shower. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

We are actually still staying at An African Villa, but I felt so compelled to write a great review that I thought I would write it now! Great neighborhood - walking distance to lots of great restaurants and downtown within walking distance. It doesn't feel as "touristy" as the V&A Waterfront (which, is only a $7CAD taxi ride away). Keith and Cindy provided GREAT recommendations on restaurants and things to do/see. As soon as you arrive, they will sit down with you and get you settled, and give you a booklet with a map, and a lot of very helpful info (reliable cab company, restaurants, room info, activity suggestions, etc). They are really helpful without invading your privacy. The buildings are old, but it is very charming, very nicely decorated, and well-maintained - my husband and I loved it pretty much as soon as we walked in. They were also kind enough to arrange an airport pick-up, and the driver was waiting for us as soon as we came through the gate, and on top of that, Yaseem was warm and helpful, and also provided some great info! The airport pickup cost about $40 CAD, and it was well-worth it after a long flight. They also have a night porter and a secure gate for additional safety (as most homes in the area do - I don't think safety is an issue, but it's nice to know they went the extra distance to make sure). The staff here are great - very sweet and good at what they do (breakfast every morning was included and simple, but very very good. I am not one for visiting the same city twice, but we would definitely come back to CT, and if we do, we will certainly stay here!

The fact that this was our second visit says a lot. We very rarely return to the same place let alone the same accommodation. An African Villa is perfectly placed as a base for starting out your Cape Town Holiday. We stayed 2 nights and used the time to relax after the flight and to do some shopping.

The villa is on a quiet residential street and a 5 minute walk to the buzzing Kloof Street with all its restaurants, bars, cafes, health food shops and general shopping.

The greeting was as warm as you could hope for. We'd emailed in advance to let them know we would be arriving early and it was great that they had managed to prioritised our room to be cleaned, so it was ready for us to check in when we got there at 11.30am.

The room was spotless and very nicely appointed with a good mix of traditional and modern African styles. The mattress on the enormous bed is one of the very best we've ever slept on!

The staff are all very helpful, the kitchen is always open if you need a glass of water or even a beer.

Louis was a wonderful source of knowledge on the local dining scene. If you feel the need for a post flight or post gourmet-feast work out, then the Virgin Active gym at Wembley Gardens is only an easy 10 minute drive and they do day passes.

Really cannot ask for any more at the price point.

This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
