“Great views on a clear day”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

When we woke up to a clear sunny morning our first day in Cape Town we knew we should make our visit to the top of Table Mountain right away. We had debated making the hike to the top, but with only a few days in Cape Town we opted to take the speedier cable car, and I'm glad we did. The cable car was fast and easy with great views. We did not book our tickets in advance.

Once at the top we enjoyed a hot morning beverage in the cafe which has a lovely view. If I had known there was a restaurant up there we'd have arrived sooner and had breakfast up there. I also think drinks before sunset there would be fantastic. There is also a gift shop up there.

We took the guided walk at 10 am, they are offered hourly. It was all of 15 minutes. Some good tidbits about the mountain, but very skip-able.

After the guided walk we walked the long loop ourselves, which was great. Very flat easy walk, but spectacular views and lookout points.

All told we spent about 2 hours from the time we reached the mountain to the time we got back to our car. I don't see the need for anymore time than that, at least in the off season. Parking was very easy when we arrived, but it looked like it backs up a bit as the day goes on. Just be prepared to have to park a bit further away and walk.

A beautiful and rapid climb to the summit! The platform revolves so everyone gets the "good view" during the ride up and down!

“Superb experience”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Great way to see Cape Town with breath-taking views. Ample parking provided on the road leading up to the start of the cableway. Inexpensive and efficient. Café and shop at the top. We spent about an hour on the top but you could spend longer exploring the summit further. Weather permitting.

“Gorgeous View!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We chose a lovely day to make our way up to the top. The cable car rotates, so you get to see all angles on the way up and back down. While on top, we witnessed gorgeous scenery while the clouds moved in. It was really cool to watch the clouds move in and take their "tablecloth" place. We did purchase our souvenir pictures, and along with that comes a code where you can get digital prints as well online. So, that was nice only having to purchase 1 package (3 pictures). It was well worth it. Go up early and beat the crowd. We didn't stand in line and had plenty of room at the top to take photos without a ton of people in the background.

“View from the top - weather dependant”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Beautiful views from the top of the mountain! Go early, don't book tickets in advance as it is weather dependant. The cable car is smooth and efficient and the floor moves 360 degrees so there is no need to fight for a spot. As always though, they crowd people in which is somewhat unpleasant.
