“Safe and quant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2012

Very difficult to find parking at the moment with the roadworks that has been carrying on for the last two years, but once there and settled you'll be glad. St James and Kalk Bay is truly lovely. It is clean and safe and you'll find yourself relaxed. There are also plenty of unique restaurants around.

“Safe Swimming!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2012

The tidal pool at St. James is either smooth like a mill pond, or choppy with salty waves breaking over the wall. Either way it is a lovely safe place to swim. The Octopus restaurant/Cafe next door to the pool is a fascinating place to grab a coffee or a bite. Over week ends in summer the kids can get a bit rowdy!

“Childhood memories”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2012

Loved the rock pools as a child and walking along the beach up to the Brass Bell brought about good memories in spite of the road construction marring the scenery.

“A lovely family beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

This beach is one of my favourites in Cape Town - the charming bathing boxes and the enclosed sea pool is great for 2yr - 14 yr olds to swim. There is no admittance fee. WARNING: visit at your peril over the December holidays, very full and the capetonians just throw their litter on the ground. I truly wish they would fine over this period. You can avoid this by going for an early morning swim before the crowds show up.
