“Quaint beach”

This little beach with its brighty coloured change houses is ideal for those wanting to get a way from the madding crowds of the more favoured Muizenberg of Fish Hoek.
It is basically a seaside rock pool where kids get to play safely and fun can be had by all.
It is a bit small, so arrive early in order to get the pick of the spots or in fact a beach changing "house"
Accessible by car or train, it is a real little gem.
The best is when the wind comes up, it does not howl here as it does a bit futher along the coast.

Good place for children. The tidal pool is safe and rock pools full of interesting sea life. Walkway leads from St James to Fish Hoek - nice for enthusiastic hikers

You arrive at the beach via a subway tunnel under the railway track. Not a big beach, but pretty and sheltered. Safe swimming in the tidal pool. Can get very crowded, which is it's only real downfall

Plan on spending some time in the Brass Bell in St. James. A wonderful collection of restaurants and pubs. And the South African wine flows everywhere.

This small beach and tidal pool is very popular, particularly over the weekend. When the South Easter wind makes other beaches unpleasant, St James is normally quite sheltered.
