“Perfect place for young children”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

I have been going to St James Beach since I was a small child. The tidal pool is the best place to take small children because they are protected from the waves - it is a great place for them to start learning about the sea and enjoying sea water. The water here is also warmer, so the children can stay in longer. There is lots to do at the beach besides swimming - the children will LOVE the rock pools at low tide. If the South Easter is blowing in Cape Town, you will usually be able to enjoy St James because it is one of the more protected beaches on the False Bay coast. I had my daughter's 11th birthday on the beach in the late afternoon and none of the children wanted to go home. We ended up with the parents lazing on the beach, while the sun went down behind us and the kids swam and played in the pool - happy memories I will keep forever.

This is a lovely beach that is lovely and quiet in the morning. Also near the train station. There is a lovely change area as well as a wonderful tidal pool.

“Family beach”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

St James is a wonderful place for families with young kids. Lots of little rock pools for kids to fish in and the tidal pool is ideal for swimming. There is also a grassed area if you don't want to sit on the sand. There is also a lovely walk way to Fish Hoek.

“A safe beach and tidal pool”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

Situated at St James' station on the False Bay coast this is a very popular family beach. The bathing boxes can be used and their is also a rassed area for those who do not want to sit on the sand. The pool is large and safe for children. St James is relatively sheltered from the prevailin South easterly wind. Their is an excellent seaside walk extendin from St James to nearby Muizenburg, a popular bathin and surfing beach.

“Quaint beach”
Reviewed 20 March 2013

This little beach with its brighty coloured change houses is ideal for those wanting to get a way from the madding crowds of the more favoured Muizenberg of Fish Hoek.
It is basically a seaside rock pool where kids get to play safely and fun can be had by all.
It is a bit small, so arrive early in order to get the pick of the spots or in fact a beach changing "house"
Accessible by car or train, it is a real little gem.
The best is when the wind comes up, it does not howl here as it does a bit futher along the coast.
