We love hiking when we travel and since we had a sunny (but windy) afternoon available decided that Lion's Head looked like a good option. The trail is very well marked, somewhat groomed at the lower elevations where protea were just blooming. As you go higher, the path narrows and has ladders in places where you'd otherwise need climbing experience to continue on. There's a short cut toward the top that takes you up rungs and lengths of chain drilled into the rock for hand and foot holds. That can feel a bit hairy, but well it's worth the effort. 306 views from the top of Cape Town and across to Table Mountain.
There are parking guides at the base to help you locate a space since that can be a bit of a challenge on busy days.
