A more than casual stroll on a spiral path ascending Lions Head gives you the most incredible views of the City, The 12 Apostles, and Table Mountain. My girlfriend has 2 historic knee injuries and found the walk to be within her comfort zone. We didn't reach the very top as it was 35 degrees and we'd seen all we wanted. The final few hundred meters is ladders and a few slightly precarious rock climbs, but nothing you couldn't do in regular shoes. Maybe not for the unfit, or elderly, mainly due to the heat.

I read a lot of reviews and thought we could do this for sunset, it was steep off the bat and we gave up at the ladders, the thoughts of coming back down in the dark did not appeal at all.
We ended up driving to Devil's Peak and watched the sunset from there, was amazing and comfortable. Unless you are confident and ok with climbing down, rocks ladders and chains in the dark i would suggest walking up a portion of it to take in the the views but make Devil's peak for sunset.

The wAlk up Lion's head can be a little strenuous and you must wear walking shoes....but the panting up is worth the mist magnificent view when you come around some of the corners! It's a reserve incredible with protea bushes and other South African flora , stunning views and what Cape Town is all about.....at some point you will see table bay, green point, sea point, camps bay devils peak and table mountain.....take water...and go breathe in the spectacular views of this magnificent city!!

Amazing spot to watch the sunset, we drove there and parked the car at the top, there were a lot of people just relaxing, drinking and waiting for the sun to go down. There are toilets but no coffee shop or anywhere to buy drinks/snacks so bring your own and enjoy the view!

Began the walk up Lion's Head and it was very steep right away. Gorgeous views all the way up but the path became narrow and then you had to climb up rocks where the path got very steep. I stopped half way up. If you progress there are ladders and chains to climb before reaching the peak. Even my 17 year old son did not go all the way to the top. Prefer Table Mountain since it was much easier to maneuver.
