Clean and very well located. Average service and hotel is getting a bit tired. Seems to have a number of local business visitors who appreciate cheap and cheerful.

Have stayed several times in this hotel, the location is great and convenient, staff very friendly - they could even remember us after 3 years. Breakfast is great and offers a lot of choices. Great value !

Thank you to Lady Hamilton for making the farewell function (19/4/2012) a great success. The venue was perfect, the food, great. Thanks to Charlene, Hudson and the Head Chef for making everthing run so smoothly. Kind Regards

Room Tip: I did not stay overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms.

Stayed here for a week with the other half at the end of March. To start with the cons, the shower system had some of the worst plumbing I've ever encountered (less said the better), there were far too many ants in the bathroom for my liking, some of the furnishings were more in need of replacing than repair, and its a bit cheeky to have to pay for both internet and overnight parking. But these were things you could live with. One of the main reasons to stay here is because of the location; brilliantly situated a short distance away from Table mountain (got a good view of it from our window), the city itself and the main roads leading out. Having got round a lot of the peninsula over the week we had the feeling we couldn't have been placed better. The area itself is genarally safe, on our first couple of nights we walked out to local resturants and didn't have any issues, and there are some decent resturants nearby. In addition to this, the staff are friendly and helpful enough, the beds were surprisingly really comfy, and the breakfast was fairly good.

I'm not going to call it a 'hidden gem' or anything as such, I'm sure there are plenty of other hotels around the city that have better facilities. But if you'd rather save your time and money for exploring the Cape (and if this is your first time visiting, you'd be mad not to be outside, making the most of it), this is definatley a worthy choice.

Room Tip: Be sure to look at Table Mountain every morning, its a great indicator to what the weather will be l...

Charming Hotel in lovely location with numerous Bars / Restaurants nearby. Comfortable / spacious Room (203) with great view of Table Mountain. All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Although breakfast choices did not change much day to day, there was still plenty on offer. We would definitely stay here again to enjoy the peace of being away from the Central Business District.

Room Tip: A short walk from the Hotel you can catch the City Sightseeing (Hop on Hop off)Bus Tour @ Stop 7 acr...

I stayed at the Lady Hamilton with my elderly mother for 8 nights, and since our return I have recommended it to all of my family and friends. Yes, it's only a 3* hotel, but I prefer to find something of value, and use the rest of my money for meals, sightseeing and transport etc. The value can't be beaten, especially with the location being in the Gardens area just behind the Mount Nelson Hotel, and around the corner from the restaurants of Kloof Street.

Prior communications were always responded to in a timely and helpful manner, our late check-in was friendly and professional, and throughout our stay, the staff were always available for any assistance - minor problems with our safe and room lock were addressed immediately.

Our room on the top floor was spacious, clean and bright with plenty of storage space - imagine our delight when we opened the curtains on our first morning to be met by Table Mountain in all of her glory (tip - if the weather is clear and calm, then take the Cable Car that day as cloud or wind will shut it down). The bathroom was tiny, but spotless with fluffy white towels and plenty of hot water incl. good shower pressure. No tea/coffee facilities in the room, but it's available free of charge in the bar/dining area. We were very comfortable and perfectly happy with the standard.

We didn't use the other facilities such as wi-fi, dining room, pool etc and whilst tours were available, we prefer to do our own thing. We did use the secured carpark, and were happy to pay the nominal fee (which is pretty standard for city hotels) as the room-rate was such value anyway.

Location - wise, the Lady Hamilton is in the suburb of Gardens, so doesn't shut down and become deserted like other city areas when the offices close for the evening. It's a friendly area and we couldn't get over how many people greeted us in the street, so we certainly never felt threatened, even when walking back after our evening meal. Head right out of the hotel to the end of the street and you come to Kloof St, well known for it's choice of restaurants - and Arnold's soon became a firm favourite (obviously with the locals too). Treat yourself to Afternoon Tea (more of a buffet) at the famous Mount Nelson Hotel which is just around the corner, and amble into the city through the Company's Gardens instead of the streets.

Cape Town is a vibrant, easy walking city and the Lady Hamilton is the only base for me!
