Had a thoroughly enjoyable 5 night stay in this small, chic hotel. Exceptionally helpful staff whose recommendations for restaurants, routes etc were spot on and who booked attractions, taxis etc instantly. Great breakfasts; complimentary sherry and canapes early evening. A shuttle was available to take guests to the Waterfront in the evenings. The area felt secure and security staff kept an eye on our car. All Cape Town attractions were a short drive away. Our one niggle- we could have done with a couple of easy chairs in our room. Those who want Grand Hotel facilities might prefer to look elsewhere. Those who, like us, prefer friendly, responsive and intimate accommodation need look no further.

The wonderfull little hotel is everyhing the traveler could hope for. We as a couple felt like we very visiting the old Africa you read about, but with all the mod-cons such as AC, we knew we didn't have to worry about anything. The staff was friendly and they were also very helpful at find us a place along the Garden Route. Please read our other reviews!

My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in South Africa and we started our trip by staying in Cape Town at the Cape Cadogan for three nights. It was a wonderful experience. We arrived early and although our rom was not ready, they allowed us to visit the sister hotel adjoins so we could freshen up after the journey.

Our room was amazing, very large with a stunning bathroom and a balcony with a view of Table Mountain. The staff were so helpful, suggesting restaurants and places to visit and making all the bookings for us. The breakfasts were scrumptious and we were able to enjoy them in the lovely courtyard.

They provide a shuttle bus to take you to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and pick you up later. Each day they left a wether forecast for the next day in our room so we could plan our day.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. You will be really spoilt during you stay. It is very central too with lots of places to eat. We really enjoyed the meal we had at Nelson's Eye (close to the Mount Nelson hotel) quite basic but friendly and bubbly staff and possibly the best filet steak I have ever eaten

Stayed in Room 2 on the ground floor at the Cape Cadogan from 3rd to 9th March. Room was generously proportioned with a large double bed and lounge chairs. Bathroom was huge and after the first day the badly marked wash hand basin was replaced with which we were delighted. The large shower area was great. The patio area was very quiet and wholly enclosed with a view to the top of Table Mountain. The service at the hotel for good and all the staff attentive. Breakfast food range was excellent although with a Scottish Manager, porridge was absent from the menu. Main negatives were: (1) large gap under the bedroom door which faced down a short corridor to reception; (2) slight noise from the reception area though not excessive and did not unduly distrub; (3) system used for internet access which although free required daily vouchers to be obtained; (4) Room service menu could be improved with more snack meals, eg toasted sandwiches but service used for light meals twice. Overall would stay definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room 2 was excellent. But ask about rooms which face the Mountain and perhaps avoid rooms to Upper...

My husband and I recently spent six nights at this very pretty small boutique hotel. We arrived before 9 in the morning having flown in on the red eye from London. Staff showed us to the breakfast area for a nice cup of coffee while they quickly finished readying the room for us. It was much appreciated that we could access the room for a shower and quick rest having arrived so early.

The hotel is located on a quiet residential street about a half block from a busy street and within very easy walking distance (maybe five to ten minutes) of a number of decent eateries. We also found that we could walk to pretty much everywhere we wanted to go including the various museums and neighbourhoods and even the waterfront, though that was about a 45 minute walk.

The hotel itself is very pretty with comfortable public rooms; a lovely breakfast area and a very pretty little courtyard where, when the weather permits, you can eat breakfast. There is even a little plunge pool in the courtyard for really hot days.

Our room, #6, was a lovely surprise. It is a corner room with a large balcony and nice views. Very high ceilings and lots of light and very bright. The room was very big with tons of storage space in two separate closets areas, a desk and table with easy chairs. The bed was comfortable with good quality linens for a good sleep. The bathroom was large with double vanities and a very big doubled shower headed walk in shower with good quality towels and toiletries as well.

Staff was friendly and attentive though somewhat uneven in terms of knowledge of the area. They were always very polite and wanting to be of assistance.

If you happened to be around mid to late afternoon, you could partake in the afternoon tea which included very tasty cookies and there was wine and munchies predinner as well. The turn down service included bottled water as well as delicious little baked goodies rather than the usual chocolates.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this pretty and comfortable small boutique hotel.

Room Tip: We chose one of the suites or larger rooms. Didn't see the smaller ones but the larger room was...

I just had the pleasure of staying at the Cape Cadogan February 25th-February 27th. We stayed in room #11. It was simply a wonderful experience. The room was nicely appointed, including our own personal terrace. The location was perfect, the restaurants on Kloof Street are great (Try Saigon and Da Vincci's). The hotel also did a great job of making me feel special on my birthday. We came in late due to a flight delay. However, they already had a table setup for my breakfast with a personalized note, mini bottle of Champagne & a rose to make my birthday memorable. The Cape Cadogan does an exceptional job of making you feel welcomed & taken care of during your stay. The staff is extremely attentive, and they also have cocktails in the library in the evening, and little goodies by your night stand in your room at night. This is a boutique hotel, that does not fall into the uppity stereotypes of forgetting about service. The Cape Cadogan is a great place to enjoy Cape Town & feel surrounded in luxury & service. I will definitely stay again when I return.

My husband and l stayed at the Cape Cadogan for three nights Feb 4/5/6th.We had room 2 which was a lovely spacious bedroom. As a previous reviewer has pointed out the bathroom basin was badly chipped and yes you can hear noises from reception. This only bothered me on one of the nights.having said that it certainly didnt spoil our stay which was wonderful
The staff on reception were very helpfull. They printed off a Table Mountain ticket for us so we didnt have to join a long queue and were only too pleased to help with any other queries.
The breakfasts were very good and set us up for the day, well in our case until lunch time.
There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance .
A great hotel and wonderful service. A big thank you to all the staff at the Cadogan.
