“clean cozy and charming”

Charming atmosphere in an old Victorian house. Ryan and Dirk were professional, knowledgable and pleasant. The breakfast was beautiful, staff attentive. Such wonderful things out of a small kitchen. Walking distance to restaurants, grocery, pharmacy, ATM. Close to Table Mountain and City Garden which makes a lovely walk.

Room Tip: we lucked out being given Room 3....off the patio, away from the lobby and an outdoor garden off the...

The Cape Cadogan is a beautiful, well-appointed hotel with a wonderful staff. Unfortunately Room 8 is both on the street side and is the closest room to the party that never ended until well after midnight. My wife and I didn't get one restful night out of our four nights at the Cape. The nightly port, the fudge on the pillow, the hot water bottles in the bed, the lovely breakfast--none of this came make up for a lack of sleep. I could not recommended this hotel to a friend.

Room Tip: Only consider this hotel if they guarantee you a quiet room. Rooms 8 should be rejected.

Thank you for sharing your review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the service from our staff and all the extra touches offered as part of the guest experience at the Cape Cadogan. The Cape Cadogan is quite centrally located and just around the corner from the vibrant Kloof Street. The Gardens area of Cape Town is well known for being quite a charming, cafe culture where one can experience the authenticity of Cape Town. As we are located off the bustling Kloof Street, it is custom for Capetonians and tourists to walk to nearby restaurants and shops, however, as you stayed midweek I am surprised that there was any noise at all. We do strive to make the guests' stay most enjoyable and would've appreciated your comments during your stay to offer an alternative solution.

This was out first night in Cape Town. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and the place was very relaxing. We stayed in Winter and I really enjoyed the log fires they put on in the evening. Dirk (I think he was the manager or one of the managers) managed to get us a table at the best restaurant in Cape Town - The Test Kitchen - with only a few days notice. That was amazing as the response we got from the restaurant was that they had no reservations for months! The tour they suggested was amazing. We walked in the evening to a few bars and restaurants close to the hotel and they were brilliant which I think illustrates the perfect location.

We did stay in room 2, and it was quite noisy. I would suggest that this would be easily rectified by an additional door along the corridor from the room to reception. However, it wasn't really a problem and we have a great time, although if/when we go back I wouldn't stay in any of the 3 rooms close to reception.

Room Tip: Room 2 a little noisy

The staff at Cape Cadogan are truly one of a kind. They go above and beyond to help you and are generally just lovely people especially ciska. Excellent local restaurants. Breakfast Is yum especially the flap jacks! Room 6 is gorgeous with comfortable bed and twin rainforest showers. The magic touch was a hot water bottle in our beds and a special treat before bed. Every evening they have a cake/ treat to enjoy complimentary. The even gave us a bottle of champagne when leaving as it was our honeymoon. Highly recommend!

Fantastic hotel, great staff, I completely agree with all the complimentary comments on this site… so why only two stars? Afraid down to one of those human error situations which, unfortunately, negated all the positive aspects of the hotel for us. We were allocated room 2 on the ground floor and were delighted with it, full of light with a lovely little terrace. Unfortunately, it is right next to reception with no sound proofing, so next morning we were woken about 6.30 as an American guest was heading off on the safari part of her holiday, naturally excited she wanted to share her plans with the reception staff and us. We were then kept awake by the comings and goings of reception until finally decided to get up. We asked to change rooms and were taken to room 8 directly above our original room, this was great, slightly bigger than our first room, with a much bigger bathroom plus a balcony with stunning views of Table Mountain – very happy and we then went out for the day returning after 11pm to find the hotel manager waiting in reception for us, never a good sign. Apparently, there had been a mistake, another guest had requested room 8 and when they arrived all luggage had been moved out to allow them in. Not only that but there were no other rooms in the hotel for us, our only option was to go to a self catering apartment also owned by the hotel but a few blocks away. It was very pleasant and had I been traveling with my family would be very comfortable but not for a couple. So the next day we were moved back into the main hotel to room 6. This was also classified as a luxury room, however, was much smaller than both room 2 and 8 (I checked on floor plan). Three rooms in three nights, not a great start to my week in Cape Town. I dealt with Virgin representative as I had booked the room through them. The hotel management agreed to waive room costs for first two nights but refused to charge only normal rate for room 6 rather than luxury rate – in my opinion its unfair charging the same for that room as for room 8. So, lovely hotel, my lesson is that if you stay there make sure you go for room 8 by far the best room I saw.

Room Tip: Make sure you get room 8, large with great view of table mountain. Room 2 very noisy too close to re...

Thank you for the review posted regarding your stay with us last year. We appreciate your kind words regarding our hotel and staff which I'll be sure to share with the team.

Please rest assured that all these comments which you shared during your stay were each seriously addressed with all members of management and have been workshopped. We do apologize for the error in offering you a room which was not available and for the inconvenience of having been moved rooms, and believe this was compensated for by offering a full refund for the first two nights. As we are a boutique hotel, all our rooms are different and we are sorry that you felt they were not of equal standard. Since you were scheduled for a later departure on the day of check out we had hoped you would find value in having a complimentary late check out.

Thank you again for your valued feedback. Please also be encouraged to use TripAdvisor to share positive experiences of your travels as I noticed only the negative on your profile.

Kind Regards,
Jisca

Great service at this boutique hotels. They were super helpful helping us plan activities, places to see/go, restaurants, etc.
The breakfasts were AMAZING! Honestly, the best.
Our room was beautiful, the shower was a dream (huge walk in shower - the size of a normal bathroom with 2 shower heads). we even had a cute patio outside. the beds were comfy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommended it to my parents/aunt/uncle who all stayed there as well.

It was a perfect honeymoon location.

We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely hotel . Our room was large, sunny and comfortable. It also had a very large marble bathroom including a large tub and a two person shower. We enjoyed the friendly staff and the the warm atmosphere here. The "Living Room" has a wood burning fireplace adding to the cozy feel of the evening cocktail time which includes Sherry and lovely snacks. It's just the right environment for visiting and making new friends from all over the world . The breakfast room was very cheerful with a multitude of tasty items offered to start the day. The hotel staff did everything possible to make our stay so comfortable. What a treat! We would love to return to the delightful Cape Cadogen on our next visit to South Africa.

Room Tip: Room7 was just great. Beautiful room large bathroom . Lots of windows and a little private outdoor p...
