We booked this B&B on the strength of other Tripadvisor reviews for one week in April 2011. We wanted a relaxing week in Cape Town after a 14-day tour of SA, and somewhere special to spend our 20th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! On arrival we were met by Antony and the 2 resident cats, Lime & Soda, before settling in to our sunny loft room. Blackheath Lodge is located in a quiet residential area between Signal Hill and the Atlantic seaboard, and our room had lovely views of both. The pool is immaculately clean and very inviting after a warm day out. Breakfasts are high quality, delicious, and very varied. Antony, Michelle, John and the team are very friendly and helpful. The morning of our anniversary, Michelle had strewn rose petals all over our breakfast table and left a trail of them leading from our room. Beautiful!
I would unreservedly recommend Blackheath Lodge to anyone looking for somewhere special in Cape Town.

Room Tip: If you don't mind stairs, go for the loft rooms. Very cosy, quiet, sunny, and a lovely view out...

Had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff are very helpful. There is a heated pool where it's nice to dip after a sunburnt day on the beach. The beds are giant sized. Rooms have air con. There's a DVD library for when you can't sleep. They've thought of everything. I'm a photography and travel with expensive equipmeny so safety is a concern. My stuff was safe and looked after. Will definately stay again.

A very lovely and charming place.. all details were thought about.. Was so nice to chill out next to the lovely pool.. The breakfast was so delicious.. Antony was so helpfull to plan the next spots of our holiday.. Such a nice and thoughtful host.. Just like all the staff..
There were a mobile phone with a local sim.. We were allowed to take it with us when we go out..so we could easily call taxi or any other local place.. such a convenience.. important numbers already saved.. so also give a safe feeling.. Great idea..
It was also good to see that there was a fund to help the children of the staff to continue their education..

I could bang on about how fantastic this place was forever and a day.

This is the only place where I have stayed where I could not fault one single aspect.

You wanted for nothing and the staff went above and beyond anything that was expected.

If you go to Cape Town this place should be your first choice.

Room Tip: They are all fantastic from what I cold tell

After a total of 15 hour travel, we were excited to see our B&B, which we chose after a long process of elimination of the hotels in Cape Town.

As expected, it was one of a kind. The lobby is small and vintage as if it jumps out of the cover of an art magazine. The breakfast area is extremely charming and has a beautiful view of the pool. Every morning there's a little breakfast surprise like little tart with strawberries which i still see in dreams.

The rooms are nicely decorated with little details and are more than elegant. Our bathroom was newly renovated and was one of best parts of the room!

Unfortunately, the air conditioner didn't work for two days and it was freezing a little. But it was immediately taken care of, after the technical problem was understood.

Antony was very helpful in organizing our daily trips and our stay in Franschoek. It was absolutely worthful to stick to his recommendations about restaurants and sightseeings.

Overall, i would certainly have such a style of a B&B in my mind, if I were to design my own hotel. It absolutely fit our expectations and would recommend it further.

Blackheath feels like coming home in Cape Town. Anthony and his staff are so friendly and their advises for restaurants, places to go and routes to come there :-) are great. The service is really impeccable. If you want to visit Cape Town in a relaxed and stylish lodge, this is the place to stay. Breakfast is excellent; I wish I could make the egg muffins with blue cheese at home. Anthony would it be possible to learn by mail how to make them myslef?? :-)

Blackheath Lodge was the perfect place to stay in Capetown. After busy days of sightseeing, coming 'home' to the charming rooms, super-comfortable beds and outdoor spaces at this lodge was heavenly. The service was impeccable and the breakfast was amazing - the crepes are a must have!! A helpful, sharing environment with staff and other guests make Blackheath a gem of a place. Highly recommended!
