“Great location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

Centrally located, in a very pleasant setting, with delightful poolside area and welcoming bar, lounge area. The breakfasts are to die for! Room was a little disappointing - smaller & less well-appointed than we were expecting but comfortable nonetheless. BUt what made this special was the friendliness & helpfulness of all the staff.

The Blackheath Lodge is very comfortable and clean with nice sitting areas and a pleasant poolside. We stayed in a smaller room but it was set up well for our four night stay. The breakfast at the hotel is very good. Charle and Godfrey were great hosts and provided good advice on what to see and where to eat in Cape Town. Most importantly they put in the extra effort to arrange reservations, call places to ensure they were open, call for taxis and just simply "took care of us". The location is very good in a residential area between Signal Hill and the sea, both were a few minutes walk away. A taxi ride is needed to get downtown or to the V&A Waterfront but some of the more energetic people did walk to those areas.

We were a group of 6 friends that really enjoyed our stay at Blackheath.
The place is so charming, the rooms really nice, breakfast delicious.
Antony and the staff are so attentive, supporting us during our stay.
Hope to come back.

Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Blackheath Lodge. It is most attractive, the breakfasts are scrumptious, the overall attention tops, and the owners and employees are outstanding. I cannot imagine a nicer place to spend some days in Cape Town. The location is ideal and the personal interest given to guests is most unique.

We LOVED Blackheath Lodge! Antony, John, Charlay, Jean Claude, Tu Tu, Portia and the rest of the team who were dedicated to our comfort - thank you! We stayed here for a week at the very end of a two month journey back to our homeland, and it was exceptional. Clever design, lots of colour, great beds, spotless presentation, a professiona approach, attention to detail, excellent food, guidance with bookings to Table Mountain and Robben Island, local knowledge, guidance above and beyond our expectations, a mobile phone for our personal use, and a genuine interest by each of the staff in making life GREAT for the guests - even the gardener makes a contribution. Walking distance to the Waterfront, plus the great walk along the promenade at Seapoint, and to the Red Bus Route make this an excellent location. We felt like we were in the home of a special brother who welcomed us and then gave us all the privacy we needed - until we asked for help. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly - good management, the staff are clearly happy, and it runs like clockwork. We entertained family and friends in the lounge one evening, and it felt just like home. Even at midnight, Jean Claude, the Gentle Giant, was there to help me make a cup of camomile tea! Now THAT is service! This will be first on our list on any subsequent return to Cape Town. Thank you so much, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, dear people!!! Absolutely top class and good value for money.

Room Tip: We were lucky to get Room # 6 up the stairs in a high ceilinged, large and lovely room.

My wife and I stayed at Blackheath Lodge for 3 days and we loved it. The attention to detail from Antony in assisting with our needs was second to none. The room was very nice and spacious with everything you possibly would need to make your stay better. The staff were very nice and efficient. The lodge was picked by our travel agent and so we went into this blind, so to speak. What a great choice it turned out to be. The lodge is with walking distance to the waterfront and we took advantage of the beautiful views after dinner back to the lodge. It a nutshell you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Room 3 has a generator just outside which is noisy until 11:30pm

We stayed at Blackheath Lodge for two nights. The people at reception were very helpful and provided great advice on how to get around, where to visit and also recommended some great restaraunts. The breakfast at the hotel was also fantastic with plenty of choice. The rooms were also very comfortable and clean.
