What a great place! The very elegant guesthouse is in a nice quiet area and staff is amazing. Rooms are beautifully done. I was in #14 which was one of the newer rooms and it was fantastic. Breakfast is great and all staff are so nice and dedicated to helping you with whatever you need. The owner is always around and is a very nice guy who takes pride in providing an excellent guest experience.

Stayed for six nights and had a wonderful time. The attention to detail was outstanding from providing warm and friendly staff to umbrellas for guests. The rooms were wonderfully decorated and provided everything a guest could want. The public rooms were equally well equipped from DVDs to books and chocolates, cakes and biscuits. What a great place to start our first trip to South Africa. The rest have a lot to live up to. Blackheath is a must for any adults wanting a quiet, luxurious hotel that provides a personal service. Can't recommend it enough.

I was traveling to Cape Town on business, and decided to extend my stay because of the long flights. The Blackheath Lodge was the perfect place to stay while exploring Cape Town. It is small and quiet, but not far from anything. The owners and staff are every bit as lovely and welcoming as you will read about in every review. I'm not much of a breakfast person, but there were a lot of choices, and the coffee was delicious. I have stayed at many hotels, all over the world, and this was one of my favorites.

After checking out, I spent three nights at the Mount Nelson - which is a beautiful, 5 star, historic hotel. I still missed Blackheath....

We spent a week at Blackheath so we got to know it very well. It is about as close to perfection as a hotel can be. It's excellent quality starts with the staff, all of whom are as accommodating as possible and who are very, very good at what they do. They obviously enjoy working at Blackheath. Their smiles are genuine.

Breakfasts are wonderful: Fresh fruit, breads, wide choices of egg dishes, and some of the best coffee , I'm sure, in South Africa. Our room (#4) was very comfortable. The shower, by the way, was enormous. We wouldn't change a thing about the room. A nice plus is that the lodge has a variety of sitting areas: One right by our room, another by the bar, and around the pool.

If we ever summon whatever it takes to survive the long flight back to Cape Town, we'll stay at Blackheath again. It's warm, cozy, and try comfortable.

Sadly, we only stayed one night at the Dar Rocmarra, on our way home, but it was such a lovely way to end a wonderful trip. We were greeted so warmly by The staff and the food were SO delicious there was almost an unseemly scramble for the last one. I've since tried replicating them at home from an internet recipe, but I don't think I'll ever manage! We had a wonderful big family room, with the children in a space of their own and a big bathroom, down and then up some steps. Really quirky and VERY relaxing and we were looked after so well, even for that short time. It's great to be right in the middle of things and yet it was SO QUIET at night, you could have heard a pin drop. Lovely roof terrace, too. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!

My partner and I spent 4 nights in this comfortable and charming B and B on our first trip to fabulous Cape Town. It's in a very good location - you can walk down to the bay or to local restaurants with no trouble at all. Both Charly and Tony were great, very helpful and informative, from getting us taxis, making reservations on line, to giving expert directions and driving advice. The entire staff was great. Our room (#2) was a bit small, but very doable, and very clean and since we didn't spend much time in it, the size didn't matter. The bed is comfortable and the room is quiet. (There is an additional outside door to block the noise in the hall). When we return, we'll ask for a little larger room. The breakfasts are good, perhaps a little more variety would do, but the food quality is a "10." We enjoyed the ambiance and the other guests. We didn't even have time to check out the new wing or the outside - not warm enough to swim. We will definitely return to Cape Town and make Black Heath our home.

We spent our first night in South Africa here and couldn't have had a better experience. Our room was beautiful and spacious - outfitted in small ways that we really appreciated. The location is perfect - walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. Our hosts were quite helpful and the breakfast was wonderful. It was a combination of high quality buffet items and made-to-order plated breakfasts that were all delicious. We would highly recommend this property and if we are back in Cape Town again we would definitely stay here again. There are a lot of different levels and steps/stairs, so if you have mobility issues you should check with the staff there to make sure they can accommodate you.
