Our great experience of Blackheath started at home in England three months prior to our arrival there. Anthony provided great customer service via the telephone & email, he offered to help us maximise our time in Cape Town by having trips organised for us to save us shopping around. We decided not to take him up but it was great to know that if we changed our minds that Anthony was on the end of the phone/email.

On arrival I think we gave Anthony quite a shock as I had booked via email and stated I would be bringing my daughter. I think Anthony thought she was older than just the 3years that she is. (apparently its 12+ for kids). To his credit he said no problem and was happy to see her everytime she bumped into her; the staff were fantastic and were also great with my daughter.

The place is very small and compact and I can totally understand the children policy. Although it is very small the rooms are amazing & huge; they are fantasically decorated and has everything you need. The whole place is fantasically decorated, everywhere you look there is the smallest detail that just makes the place so great. The mornings were my favourite time as the breakfasts and the breakfast balcony are just fantastic.

I love the place and would choose this anyday over any of the V&A hotels.

I really hope I get the chance to visit again.....

We enjoyed our "secret" getaway at Blackheath. In the middle of the bustling city is this quite oasis. The breakfast was the best of all the breakfasts on our 2 week trip. Order an omlete, they are delicious!. Antony was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and other arrangements including a booking through the Wine Desk for a tour of the wine region. You must do this! The neighborhood is convenient and the rooms comfortable. You must eat at Sevruga's in the waterfront. What a memorable night.

We were recommended to Blackheath Lodge by friends - and we were very grateful to then for doing so, after a lovely week with Antony, Michelle, Jean-Claude and the team. The location is very convenient for trips into town or out to the country. The courtyard garden and pool are delightful and we always looked forward to our breakfast on the verandah - such a marvellous choice of healthy, fresh food ... and also some indulgences! Our room was very spacious, had lots of character and was beautifully furnished. Above all, the helpfulness and warmth of the whole team is marvellous. Whether day trips or evening meals, they could not have been better at finding exactly what we wanted, including places we would not have found in a month of hunting on our own. If you want something completely different from a large, corporate chain hotel, look no further.

Michelle, Jean-Claude, Antony, John and Team run this little oasis in the Sea Point area. They are incredibly friendly, relaxed and make you feel at ease. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and the quality of the beds is fantastic. This is a true, small scale boutique hotel with a nice little swimming pool and a gorgeous breakfast in the morning. I cannot think of anything else a traveller would desire.

....after a 18hr flight a friendly transfer pick-up from the airport and a good night sleep in a sumptious Blackheath Lodge bed, those freshly baked Strawberry crumble tartlets at the breakfast table are to die for as a great end to a comprehensive breakfast which included a delicious cooked breakfast.

Blackheath lodge is ideally located for access to the swish V&A docks and shopping and the seafront.

Anthony and John who run Blackheath lodge know how to set you up for a day exploring the wonders of Cape Town, both with the city attractions and some outstanding restaurant recommendations (Teresa's Duchess of Wisbech to name but a few).

Rooms are stylishly decorated and comfortable, beds are dressed in crisp white cotton linen. Extremely inviting and comfortable.

Anthony and his staff are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble to ensure your stay is comfortable and memorable.

Very nice hotel with friendly service. The only drawback was that breakfast service did not really start until 8 am.

I have just returned from a 6 night stay at Blackheath Lodge and have to say I can't wait to go back! This guest house is located in a nice quite residential street in Seapoint only a few minutes walk from the waterfront and a short cab ride from the V&A. The Lodge itself is a beautiful building which is clearly lovingly maintained by the owners Antony and John. The decor is wonderfully tasteful and each room is extremely well appointed with all the usual amenities. I had a look at some of the other rooms and like the fact that they all felt very individual. We stayed in Room 6 which I would highly reocommend as you get a lovely view of the bay from here. Attention to detail is something I think Blackheath Lodge should be very proud of, from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave you are made feel most welcome and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. I read from other reviews many comments about the great breakfast and have to agree, its marvellous, everything cooked to order and a fine selection of home made produce is laid out for you to enjoy.
Having stayed in Cape Town before at a larger well known 5 star hotel I reckon Antony and John would give the Concierge there a run for his money! They are incredibly knowledgeable about Cape Town and the surrounding areas and gave us some fantastic advice on where to eat and what to go and see. Their warmth and friendliness was something which is hard to find in large establishments and I would highly recommend Blackheath over any of the waterfront hotels. John and Antony are always close to hand if you need anything and I take great comfort knowing how much time and effort they put into their guest house. They are very proud of what they have achieved and so they should be, this is the finest guesthouse in Cape Town!
Downsides? There are none, if you are intending to go to Cape Town there simply is no where better than here! You will enjoy a fine stay in an intimate and beautifully decorated guest house, whilst being looked after by a warm and friendly team headed up by two of the best in the business! I look forward to going back very soon!
