We stayed here in August and found it to be an ideal place to stay in Cape Town. Although it's not in the heart of the city, it really did not matter. We did the two hop-on/ hop-off tours which can be picked up a 6-7 minute walk away (possibly longer on way back after a long day, as it's up hill!) The staff are happy to call a taxi if you need to get anywhere else. We also walked through gardens to visit the market in the city; it's just a bit too far to walk to the Waterfront unless you are feeling energetic. Our room was spacious and clean with everything we needed. Although there was a problem with the heating when we arrived, we were quickly given a heater which solved the problem and kept us cosy. The breakfasts are large and varied, with more than enough to set you up for the day. Our host on arrival could have been more welcoming, a smile would have helped - I thought it was me being 'picky', but my husband thought she was less then warm in her welcome too. However, the following morning we met Jade who more than made up for that and could not have been more helpful with suggestions and bookings. She was then warm and friendly on every other occasion, always asking about our plans and if we had enjoyed our various outings. There are a couple of good places to eat nearby; Nelson's Eye, just down the road, may look nothing from the outside (we were put off until it was recommended by a local), but don't be misled.....the steaks are something else. It may look like a 1970's Bernie Inn inside , but the service and food are brilliant. Try it. We also tried an Italian called Da Vinci's on Kloof St, about a ten minute walk away. Ok, it is a regular sort of place, but the service was excellent, the ostrich burger great and the pizza well above expectation. We just wanted something quick and simple that we didn't have to go miles for and it fitted the bill perfectly. Do not be put off by the fact 4 Rosmead is a little out of town, it is a perfect base and makes a lovely change to large imprersonal hotels.

Four Rosmead was a wonderful introduction to the graciousness, hospitality, and luxury possible for visiting South Africa. The location, in the Garden District, while not in the heart of the city, was convenient enough to visit everywhere we wanted to go with a short drive, or a short cab ride at night.

We stayed four nights in a luxury room on the second floor with a lovely outdoor sitting area. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow for using the sitting area, but I did make use of the great soaking tub.

The room itself was comfortable with everything that you could need including fluffy robes. But the real draw of Four Rosmead was the staff's ability to make you feel at home. We had full use of the beautiful sitting room, and the when the weather permitted, the outdoor sitting area. We had drinks every night in the parlor. One chilly night the staff lit the fireplace just for us. The grounds were beautiful, and the bountiful breakfasts elegant and delicious.

I would not hesitate to return to Four Rosmead- in fact- thinking about it makes me smile.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor, preferably with a tub.

We arrived at Four Rosmead on the first of three stops around South Africa. From check in to departure we could not find any fault with the accomodation, staff or food!
The staff were happy to help us with planning trips, booking tickets and pointing us in the right direction the few times we went out in the hire car.
It was all the added extras that made them stand out - the turndown service, our beautiful congratulations card and bottle of champagne and taking time out to speak to us whenever they saw us.
Thank you to all the staff and we hope to return to explore Cape Town a little more.

Room Tip: We were upstairs at the back of the hotel - we had no bath but a lovely big shower room which was am...

We arrived at this wonderful oasis in Capetown after travelling some 22 hours from NYC. (The previous comments about the uselessness of the GPS from the airport apply to us as well). After unpacking and showering (great bathrooms) we met with the concierge about our plans for the next few days. She checked the weather reports and made reservations at all the sights we wanted to see in Cape Town. The dinner recommendations each evening were spot on. The room(superior) was large and extremely comfortable. The grounds were gorgeous, even in the winter. Gated parking was on premises. The breakfasts were made to order and included specials each day. After a day of sightseeing we gathered in the main room, in front of a roaring fire for drinks before dinner. All in all, it was a great way to start our South African adventure, and was one of the highlights of the trip.

We spent three nights in August, one of them in the deluxe room – a true suite. The place is simply fantastic. The interior design is great, perfectly tidy, the location is convenient and the staff is extremely helpful. Very reach and tasty breakfast, a pc available for Internet access, very nice garden with pool (although in winter we could not enjoy it!), internal parking. We just loved the place and strongly recommend it.

We stayed for 4 nights in this lovely little guest house. The room was spacious with some lovely touches and the breakfast was vast and delicious! The only slight downside was that we were in the room right by the main front door and were woken early on a few mornings by other people coming and going. The staff were really helpful and assisted us with taxis and planning our days etc.

We had a bit of a struggle finding this B&B as the GPS we hired with the rental car got us very lost (tip: preload the directions from the airport to the hotel on your iphone before you get there as it works even without data activated).
The B&B is very nice, there was room to park our car and the carpark and B&B is surrounded by security fencing so we didn't have to worry about our car getting broken into. The location is in a quiet suburban street but it's not too far to drive to the waterfront or other areas in town. At night we just took a taxi which the reception staff kindly organised for us.
The breakfast was fantastic - we loved the homemade jams and scones and they can also make you a hot breakfast if you like. Highly recommended as a cheaper alternative to the big 5 star hotels in town.
