We visited Cape Town in May and were very happy with our accommodation at Derwent House. Communication with DW prior to our arrival was excellent with staff providing help selecting a room and loads of good information about the city passed along before we even left Canada.
This is a place where you can really unfold and feel like you are at home. We were very comfortable taking advantage of the living room after a busy day exploring this amazing city, so the smallish bedrooms are not really an issue since the entire house is available for guests to enjoy.....and we did!
The decor is inviting and modern with many interesting paintings and other pieces to captivate the eye.
We liked all the recommended restaurants in the neighbourhood ....our favorite was the Paradiso which staff booked for us even prior to our arrival in CT.
We adored the staff who were all so helpful and engaged in the operation of the house. No question or request went unanswered.
The location of DW was fantastic and we enjoyed the stroll downtown which is about 45 minutes unless you stop and shop along the way.....which of course we did.
If you choose DW you will have a lovely stay in Cape Town.

Derwant House is a fantastically situated beautiful boutique hotel situated on the foot of Table Mountain in Tamboerskloof. The staff all need a mention, Vuyo, was super friendly and professional, Timothy, the night porter very friendly and helpful, Siphokazi, the weekend manager also impressed us greatly. We were upgraded to pool suites, and had delicious breakfast daily. The amenities and facilities are great. I can recommend Derwant House to everyone visiting Cape Town.

My wife and I went South Africa for our honeymoon and Derwent House was the first stop on our trip. We stayed 3 nights and everything about it was perfect. We arrived very late in the evening and someone was there to check us in and serve us complimentary wine and snacks to welcome us. Our bedroom was wonderful with 2 very cozy decks, one with a partial view of the mountain and the other overlooking the pool. Comfortable, exquisite shower, and there was a nice flat screen TV with a DVD player to use for the many complimentary dvd's downstairs to choose from.

Aside from the beautiful house itself, along with the lovely pool area and convenient location near many good restaurants and in walking distance to downtown, the best part of Derwent house is the service and staff. Everyone we encountered truly could not have been more friendly and ready to make our stay as perfect as possible. We felt like guests in a favorite relative's home. Due to our busy sight-seeing schedule, we only used the hot tub once, but as soon as we got in, knowing that it was our honeymoon, the staff brought out a complimentary bottle of champagne and some chips. They make every effort to ensure that your stay is enjoyable.

I really can't say enough good things about Derwent House. It really is the perfect stop for anyone. We are the kind of people who always like to try different things and not do the same thing twice, but I must say, if we ever get a chance to visit Cape Town again, it would near impossible to not book a room back at the Derwent House. It was that wonderful.

We arrived at Derwent House after a 16 day safari. When they opened the door it was like we had achieved Nirvana. The beds are outstanding, the breakfasts to die for, the service is wonderful and sitting in the living room sipping your Port is out of the world. the staff handled a number of our sight seeing trips and recommended some wonderful restaurants within walking distance. You should try Manor Epicure. All in all, you can't go wrong by choosing Derwent House.

Derwent House is an absolutely lovely place. We did enjoy our stay there very much! The staff is adorable, friendly and really nice, the furniture in the lobby, kitchen and the rooms is very aestethic. All the house is cosy and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious - I wish I would have someone to make pancakes for me like this every day :) If you go to Cape Town, don't miss staying at Derwent House!

Room Tip: Rooms with the balcony grant you a great view at the Table mountain.
