The lounge area is lovely, very chilled and relaxing
The comp tea's,coffee's, homemade cakes, port and sherry!
Loved the honesty bar

Small not so good bit:
Would def stay in a fabulous room next time as the beautiful room was small, but fine for a couple of nights

This was our second trip to Cape Town and Derwent House and yet again we are so grateful to Jo, Carol and all their staff for helping us have a great holiday. They should all be so proud of themselves knowing that they always go that little bit extra to make sure everyones stay at Derwent and in Cape Town is something special. Thanks to you all.

My parents visited Cape Town and stayed at Derwent House in December 2008 and took me along on their next trip in January 2010. Cape Town is amazing and not at all what I expected. Derwent House was a great place to stay. Jo, Carol and all the staff were always so pleasant and couldn't be any more helpful. Everywhere in the hotel is spotlessly clean, breakfast is brilliant and I loved coming in after a trip or day out to a nice cake. I loved being able to send my laundry away as well so had very little washing when I came home! Oh and when the laundrette forgot to iron my trousers as requested Carol ironed them for me! I know it has all been said before but this really is a fantastic place to stay. I thought Cape Town was going to be a once off visit but I will definitely be back to Derwent House.

We stayed for 6 nights (6-12 Jan) in room 5, pool side. We could have stayed for a month!

Months beforehand, Carol and Jo were already helping to make our holiday special, making suggestions, organising transfers, providing advice. Then, on arrival, they were always ready with great tips for things to do and excellent restaurants (Millers Thumb, down the road on Kloof Nek and The Grand Cafe in Granger Bay were 2 of the best meals we had all holiday and we would not have gone without their recommendation).

The hotel is beautifully presented, with great furniture and art and a lovely pool area. The honesty bar provides all the refreshments you could need at a fraction of the price of a big hotel mini bar.

A chocolate and scroll on your bed every evening and complimentary fruit and lolly ices are just some of the little touches that makes this place so good.

The other thing that strikes you is the peace.

Basically, great property, great people, great city.

Thank you so much.

We'll be back.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was fantastic. They were very accommodating with my 15th month old son and the heated swimming pool meant that he wouldnt leave from it!
The all day fresh cakes and coffee were a lovely added touch and breakfast fresh and moreish.
Lovely location, minutes drive from everywhere and the view of Table mountain from our room was perfect.
Jo and Carol run this hotel with a great personal touch and I would definitely recommend staying there.

My Wife an I have just returned from a wonderful week in the Western Cape. The star of the show has to be The Derwent House Boutique Hotel, the owners the fantastic Carol and Jo and not forgetting their wonderful team.
We were greeted like long lost pals and made to feel like part of the family by the time we had to head home to England.
I should make special reference to Bandilla who was always on hand to look after us, nothing was too much trouble for him. In short he is a real star.
I can not recommend Derwent House highly enough. Its a true oasis in the heart of a busy Cape Town

We began our honeymoon trip along the Garden Route at Derwent House & after a long 18 hours travelling & were shown to our room where we could relax. We were put in to room 9 on our first stay here, which although the bedroom was VERY small, it had a seperate kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave & tea & coffee making facilities & lounge area with tv & dvd player, along with a small patio area which more than made up for th small bedroom.
The hotel is decorated perfectly, the main lounge area was very stylish but also very comfortable with lots of lovely books on Cape Town & lots of magazines to read. There is also a lap top for everyone to use which came in very handy for on line check in & checking e mails!
The kitchen has a very well stocked fridge & honesty bar & they have complimentary tea/coffee & cakes all day.
The pool area is well designed but it does get busy through out the day.
The hotel is in a great location with a lovely view of Table Mountain & very near to the fashionable Kloof Street which has lots of bars & restaurants to choose from. Saigon was our favourite but it does get busy so you may need to book!! There is also a great pizzeria there.
The breakfasts were fantastic, there were plenty of yoghurts & cereals to help yourself to while waiting for the full English to be served & it was delicious! Having lived in Kuwait for the past 12 months the bacon & sausages were a very welcome treat!!
We returned to Derwent House on the final night of our trip ready to fly back home & this time we were in room 2. The bedroom was much nicer than room 9, but there are no tea or coffee making facilities, no fridge, not much room for cases as no lounge area & worst of all - no shower?! Having suffered with back problems, using the bath was difficult & standing in it using the shower attachment was a nightmare as the water went everywhere! There is also a constant water noise through the day from the pool so I couldnt nap after our long drive from George!!
The staff were lovely & Jo especially was fantastic. She made sure that she spoke with every guest at breakfast & she genuinly sounded interested in what everyone was doing that day. She would give excellent recommendations of places to go & provide maps etc to help you out, She really made us feel very welcome & we would like to thank her for that.
I would definitly stay here again, but I would ask for a room with a shower!
