“Home to Capetown”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

I seldom do this online, but felt compelled to praise La Rose this morning. My cousin and I stayed I at La Rose recently on our first visit to South Africa. As I have talked about my experiences while in Capetown La Rose became my mantra. It is the first place I have gone and felt completely at home. It has been in fact been my favorite place I have ever stayed and I have travelled to six of the seven continents. The accomodations, the value, the location, the variety of rooms, the help we received and do I dare say it was loving. If the owners opened up other places around the planet, I would only stay there. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling so far away from home. The rooftop garden is a sanctuary above the city. {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252

Good location, very clean, excellent breakfast... the list of positive aspects is long but what I appreciated most is the love and care for each detail and personal attention of the extremely friendly owner. Thanks Roan, highly recommended!

Room Tip: We stayed at the smallest room available. Despite the size, very comfortable. First class finishing...

We stayed two nights in this B&B. We arrived in the early morning from the airport, which was no problem at all. Very flexible, thank you. The B&B is conveniently located and offers good breakfast, all for a very reasonable price. We would recommend this B&B when you visit Cape Town.

La Rose was a really wonderful choice for our Cape Town lodging. It was very conveniently located for quick cab rides (at night) and easy walks throughout the city. It was also very clean with great breakfasts. The highlight was certainly talking in the mornings to the owners, who were able to give us great tips on visiting Cape Town as well as interesting conversation about the current events in South Africa. It is hard to believe all of this was at such a reasonable price. Highly recommend. We stayed in the Red Room and it was a great view of Table Mountain. I was not at all bothered by the Muslim call to prayer. It did not waken my husband at all and I enjoyed hearing it.

We stayed in one of the smallest rooms but it was nevertheless quite comfortable, stylish decorated and had everything we needed, including a little veranda to chill before going to sleep. The location is great and right in one of the touristic attractions of Cape Town, Bo Kaap. The breakfast room is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious, specially the omelets (and you will never get such good bread again in SA). The manager/owner is extremely friendly, warm and helpful. The "La Rose experience" was a wonderful start of our trip in South Africa and we will for sure book there again the next time we are in Cape Town.

We stayed here for 4 nights in April 14. An absolute delight of a place in a charming neighbourhood full of character and history. We received a warm welcome and all the help we could need to help orientate and plan our short stay in Cape Town.

All the rooms would appear to be quirky - ours, the lilac suite, was gorgeous - spacious, well maintained and with its own little balcony. There is plenty of on street parking if you have a hire car and the area appears to be safe in the evenings. (In fact, whilst I mention it that was our experience throughout the 'City bowl'. Maybe if you were a young girl it might not be advisable to wander around on your own, but as a couple we were perfectly comfortable. Make your own judgement, be careful, but don't necessarily believe all the scare stories.)

Breakfast is really good, and a sociable affair if you want it to be. There is also a pretty communal roof terrace overlooking table mountain and the surrounding district.

Stay somewhere authentic - book up and enjoy! And a special thanks to all the staff from us!

La Rose B&B is a great place to stay in Cape Town. Within walking distance of the town centre and good restaurants. Car parking was easy enough. Yoann the owner/manager has breakfast with guests and I, like many others, found him an excellent conversationalist and helpful host.
