It's difficult to put into words what Nine Flowers Guest house is like...it's in a perfict position with views of Table Mountain, it's close to shops and the Government Walk and the Hop on/Hop off busses go past the front door, it is probably the cleanest, prettiest, and friendliest place I have ever stayed in, from the spotless rooms with everything you could want in them, through to the beautiful courtyard garden and plentiful fresh food for breakfast, not forgetting a fresh rose on every table, nothing is too much trouble and the staff are more like friends.
If I had stayed in a 6* hotel I would not have received the service I had here, thank you for having me. Ken (UK)

Room Tip: Mine was only half the way up stairs, light and airy and with Aircon.

Dear Mr. and Ms. Schaffner,
I’m very grateful for feeling at home whilst staying at Nine Flowers! The room was cosy and well equipped, the breakfast really good, the yard so inviting for spending a quiet hour in the evening. Your house has really a special atmosphere. This was first of all due to the way you yourself and all your staff are treating your guests: professionally, attentively, and very, very friendly. Your tips and advice on practicalities and places to go were most helpful and welcome. Coming back to Cape Town the Nine Flowers will certainly be my first choice.
With a big Thank You and best regards,
Jürgen Buxbaum, France

Room Tip: I had a newly refurbished quiet room with two windows on the first floor, which provided good space and a nice bathroom, with a view to the beautiful and tastefully designed yard.

We stayed in Nine Flowers in November 2012. It is situated in an amazing Victorian house, very nicely decorated. The host is very welcoming and has provided us with very good tips and information about visiting Capetown. She helped pre-booking the cable car, hop on-hop off bus, etc. in advance in order to get a discount. Excellent breakfast with an additional "surprise" dish every morning. Would definitely recommend staying here.

A great location for walking to the centre of the city or using the hop-on, hop-off bus. A comfortable, clean and quiet guesthouse with an excellent breakfast and a wonderfully welcoming and helpful host, Matthew, who provided lots of suggestions and advice that gave us a great impression of the Mother City, and the the country and people of SA as well. Aside from giving us good ideas about where to go and how, he helped us reconsider the negative and fear-inducing stories we had read on the internet. As if running a good guesthouse weren't enough, he persuaded us to take the township tour with Laura, who lives in one of the townships and whose community work Matthew and Marrin support. It was an experience that had nothing to do with voyeurism and everything to do with learning more about the hardships and joys of people who live in the townships as a way of better understanding South Africa today, A tour with Laura also assists this remarkable woman in making a change in the lives of children.

On our second stay at Nine Flowers Guest House, we were surprised to find a change in ownership. Nonetheless, we were warmly welcomed. Nine Flowers is ideally situated; a delightful stroll through "The Gardens" initiated by Jan Van Riebeek in 1652, takes you to the heart of the city. The bus stops at your door and will take you to the Cable Car for your ride up Table Mountain. You are served a delicious breakfast in a bright, comfortable dining. Staff members are friendly and will accommodate as requested.
