The Cellars-Hohenort

Certificate of Excellence

My boyfriend and I won a 3 night stay at The Cellars-Hohenort and it was the best Hotel experience both of us ever had. We were treated like Kings during our entire stay. The Hotel is beautiful as well as the surrounds. All the staff members were extremely friendly and eager to assist. It's the best place to go if you feel like escaping the fast-paced and busy world out there. It is beautiful, relaxing and like taking a deep breath of fresh air.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the Suites which was amazing

We had toyed with the idea of staying in the waterfront area, glad we didn't.We were met on arrival by the under manager who wished me a happy birthday'lead to reception and promptly given an upgrade. The suite was very good with a garden view.Ate the first night in the restaurant and enjoyed ourselves. The bed was very comfortable and the towels soft.Breakfast was excellent.the staff remembered little details such as lowfat milk and were never intrusive.Yes the hotel is not ultra modern but refind elegance. The hotel grounds are made for walking with the 7 gardeners each having a different theme in their own 1 acre.Having visited the Mount Nelson hotel, the cellars is much better.Guest security was first class. The owner Lis Mcgrath has created a hotel that my wife and I will return to.

Forget VA Waterfront, forget city centre, if you want a wonderful romantic getaway, just 15min from the city then Cellars Hohenort is the place for you. Gorgeous, lush gardens surround 2 historic homesteads. Suites and cottages individually decorated are located throughout the gardens. Our stunning suite had it's own private garden, huge bathroom, lounge and kitchenette. Service was warm and friendly and super impressed that all staff knew the special occasion I was celebrating. Unfortunately Greenhouse was full due to pvt function, but the Conservatory offered delicious, simply prepared dinner. World class!!!!! Breakfast was served again in Conservatory, was perfect way to spend a sunday morning.

We stayed for four nights at the Cellars-Hohenort. it came highly recommended by South African friends. It is, well, faultless! The food is extraordinarily good in both restaurants. The staff is so very kind and could not be more helpful. The rooms are very, very comfortable and impeccably maintained. The gardens are gorgeous! We loved the location on the slopes of Table Mountain. We went for walks each morning in the surrounding area as there are some great nature trails moments away.
We travel a great deal and always stay at wonderful hotels, and this one is very, very special indeed . We look forward to a return visit.

My wife and I shared our wedding anniversary wit some great friends who also wed on the same date. We were greeted by name on arrival - a simple yet very effective way to put us completely at ease. Our meal at the Conservatory was exquisite and the service impeccable and unobtrusive. We especially loved the fact that the vast majority of the sommeliers suggestions were locally from Constantia. We love our wine and found the 'journey' through the list so much more relevant and grounded for being locally selected.

We did not stay at the Cellars, just had dinner at the Greenhouse, it was the absolute finest in fine dining and an amusing culinary journey into the highest flights of imagination, from a starter dish of 'foraging in the forest' to the next course served in an ostrich egg on fresh fynbos - anyway, no more details, you just have to go there to experience it. Beautiful decor, attentive staff and elegant atmophere - actually perfect.
