This is surely one of the most beautiful hotels anywhere. Hidden in the Constantia Valley, it is close to the CBD and waterfront but feels like another world. The sprawling property is surrounded by perfectly maintained gardens, whilst the hotel facilities themselves are cleverly worked into the historical buildings. There is great selection of restaurants, and the breakfast in particular is amazing. Despite the historic surroundings, the internet connection is, improbably, amongst the best I have ever used in a hotel anywhere.

Top class in every aspect and most highly recommended.

A beautiful estate set amongst the stunning countryside of Constantia, only a few minutes away from Central Cape Town. An old world property which has been maintained to the highest standard. Old world service with a fantastic selection of top wines. The food was stunning and the whole evening was a great success
A wonderful experience not to be missed when visiting Cape Town

Room Tip: Only ate here. Couldn't get into the restaurant only heading for The conservatory.

Tourists run around the Cape Peninsula at a hectic pace and venture miles driving to outlying villages like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, when it is ALL right there in the Cape Peninsula. While we have never stayed at the Hotel of this establishment, annually we are drawn to it for a lunch at the splendid Conservatory Restaurant. Allow yourself a little extra time to walk through the magnificent grounds and stand beneath the ancient Camphor trees, part of an avenue that originally ran for miles and is also to be seen in Kirstenbosch.

Everything about this restaurant is tip top and it has won accolades world wide for the quality of the food served. The wine menu makes for interesting reading, never mind the views from the windows and the decisions to be made over what to eat. This is a place for a leisurely gourmet experience and we have never ever been disappointed.

Through the glass walls one may admire the grounds where squirrels and birds abound, and beyond the majestic Table Mountain dominates. The waiters are so well trained and know not to rush the diners. The bread basket is generous but restrain yourself for the meal to follow. Every morsel of food on the plate makes sense - just the most impeccable delicious meal in Cape Town.

I cannot rate this restaurant high enough! We think it is the best in SA and probably one of the best we have ever eaten at in our journey through 69 countries. For Overseas visitors coming to SA, with the rand such a bargain, this must be the ultimate gourmet experience and at minimum prices!

We stayed at here for 3 nights in March 2013 and booked through 'Deeksha' from Wanderforth Holidays. This was the last stop on our tour of Southern Africa and it didn't disappoint. The hotel and service were great at all times. Its in a great location to get around cape town and only about 15 minutes to the waterfront. The service we received was amazing, they always called you by your name and our last night we were surprised to see they had computers and printers for guests to use so we could print our boarding passes! The rooms are of an excellent standard and we even had under floor heating in our bathroom! On our last day our flight wasn't until 10pm and we asked if we could check out and leave our bags there but they went one step further to let us keep our room until the evening enabling us to shower up and get ready in the late evening before our flight. A great service which will stick in the mind and we will definitely stay here again when we return to cape town.

This is a truly wonderful hotel. We have stayed in Relais hotels in many countries and this one stands out as the best of the lot. Highly recommended dining in both restaurants. The Conservatory is lovely and the Greenhouse tasting menu is a serious spoil for a deserving darling like me.

When my husband and I decided on a 5-star break after a hectic year, we chose a week in Cape Town during February, before spending more time with our family in Johannesburg.
Knowing the Constantia area well we chose the peace and quiet and beauty of the Hohenort rather than the hustle and bustle of the Waterfront.
Being retirees, we settled for a standard double which opened up onto a patio overlooking part of the lovely gardens. This was slightly smaller than we expected it to be but enough for our comfort for the short stay, and the easy access to the dining lounge area through the garden and to the pool proved to be just fine.
This place is especially lovely, situated beneath the great Kirstenbosch Gardens on the slopes of Table Mountain. It is close to town on the highway, and to the exceptionally lovely coastline drives and the inland wine farms.
The service was wonderful, smiling faces all around demonstrating the usual South Afrivcan hospitality and goodwill. Breakfasts were special (try their muesli!!) but the food at the dining room generally could have been more varied perhaps. It would have been nice to order a steak and chips or even a pizza had we wanted to. But the main restaurant at the adjoining Hohenort Hotel, with its own huge heated pool and separate entrance and gardens, was superb. Try it if you can get in. Each dish was like being served a painting on canvas - and so tasty. The chef is world renowned.
There are three hotels to the entire complex, and the staff representative willingly gave me a tour of each type of accommodation everywhere. All the reception staff were wonderfully helpful again with polite and smiling service. It was like making friends with them all.
We left after the week was up feeling recharged and renewed.
All in all, a wonderful stay. And we definitely want to return.
Thank you all at the Hohenort!
June and Bernard Levy, Israel.

Room Tip: Depends on your pocket and your age. We chose ground floor.
