Nestled in one of the most elegant suburbs of capetown, in the exclusive constantia and not far from the amazing kirstenboch botanical gardens, the cellars hohenhort is a truly charming property where we just enjoyed a 2 nights stay.

Surrounded by magical and manicured gardens, this luxury hotel offers to guests a very romantic experience. Split into several historical cape style buildings, the 52 rooms and suites are decorated in a traditional style but all so lovely and comfortable. We stayed in one of the classic suite located in the main building and we loved how warm and serene it was. Pretty spacious and with great views over the gardens, we felt like in a friend's house. We noticed as well the generosity of this hotel extending a full inclusive mini bar and a bottle of wine in each room. The only little thing to upgrade is the air conditioning system from an other age...

What is the most impressive at cellars hohenhort is the kindness, the professionalism and the attitude of the staff. We've been wonderfully welcomed with a profusion of smiles and a sense of hospitality like nowhere else. Everyone who is working in this place is doing it with passion and heart and we have been impressed by the service so close to perfection. People make an hotel... and we can't thank all the team enough to pamper us so wonderfully.

But cellars hohenhort has other pros like food which is truly delicious. Breakfasts served in the conservatory were all excellent with an elegant little buffet with high quality products and a menu with warm selection of dishes all excellent. You can even make your breakfast sparkling with MCC or spicy with a bloody Mary... We had dinner as well and I got the best Caesar salad ever and the signature cheese souffle is a delight... however we haven't had the opportunity to try Greenhouse, the gastronomic restaurant which looks not only beautiful but which is undoubtedly a true culinary experience. Next time for sure...

If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of capetown without being too far, if you love walking in outstanding gardens, if you like very atmospheric places, if you are a food junkie, the cellars hohenhort has to be your choice because not any other hotel offers such a great value for such a quality.

The only little thing to improve is when we enjoy being by the pool or in the garden, somebody should show up to ask if we need a drink or if we want to have something to eat... having lunch in the garden was a bit complicated...

But to end, let's say we really want to go back because it is a very special place...

We stayed here for the last few days of our honeymoon. This is a lovely hotel set in stunning gardens. Lots of free parking. We were upgraded to a suite with a free mini bar which was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. It is a lovely place from which to visit Kirstenbosch gardens with cape town around a 30 minute drive away and the airport just 20 mins drive away. The hotel’s transfer service is very expensive and make sure you check your bill – they tried to charge us for transfers we didn’t have.

Dear amysar

Many thanks for your wonderful review of the Hotel, I am delighted that you enjoyed spending your honeymoon with us and that you appreciated the free upgrade to your room category. I would like to apologise that we tried to charge you for transfers that you did not use - I will investigate as to how this happened as we are not in the habit of charging guests for services not used! Many thanks for bringing this to our attention in this forum.

I look forward to welcoming you back to celebrate your first anniversary next year!

Warm regards
Dominic

This is the second time we have stayed at the Cellars and enjoyed it as we did the first.
The staff are friendly and efficient helping make this stay a home away from home.
The hotel itself is beautifully appointed in classic Cape Dutch style nesting at the foot of the mountains. Stunning gardens and quiet surrounds. We have stayed at all three Liz McGrath hotel and have never been disappointed.

We really spent a very good time there, people are so nice, and pay attention to details. The rooms are good, the service is great the food is very good. We loved it, we enjoyed the fact that it was not for from Cape Town but very quiet in the middle of the nature. The common area are very beautiful. The hotel is well situated we were able to go to the cape of good hope, boulders beach and visit many things, doing some good wine tasting without any need to rush. In my opinion the best option if you don t want to be in Cape Town and if you re looking to be in a quiet place.
