We had the most wonderful experience at this location, they treated us like royalty and went the extra mile. The meals were awesome and the golf course was in stunning condition.
We would highly recommend this venue for your next holiday dream vacation.

We stayed at the Steenberg for 3 days and enjoyed the great food, weather and accomodation.
Unfortunately, my wife was sick all three days and could not play the prepaid round of golf - it is hard to understand that a Hotel of this class would not budge and give us one green fee so my wife could play her round.
It would have made us all come back to the Hotel and we would even have stayed a couple of more days.
It is really funny how one can be so petty and at the same time risk to chase happy guests away! In addition, we were promised a feedback from the Management re the said Green-fee - needless to say that we have not heard from the Hotel neither by phone nor by email. Sad and unnecessary!

Arriving 4 a.m. from Europe, the staff were prepared and took care of absolutely everything. Excellent room, service, cuisine and golf.
Everybody at the Hotel, from the Manager to the guys outdoor, were pleasant, welcoming, smiling and humble.

My wife and I are keen golfers, and after scouring the internet for a suitable South African golfing holiday, we chose the Steenberg Hotel with its adjacent golf course. The hotel and the golf course looked very good on the website, so we booked ourselves in.

We got much more than we expected. The Steenberg Hotel is stunningly beautiful, set in its own manicured vineyards, and facing Table Mountain. We arrived tired from London to be met by the smiling reception staff, whose first thought was to offer us a drink - you don't get that everywhere! Steenberg's own Sauvignon Blanc was our fortunate choice, and we continued to choose it at dinner throughout our stay. You will not find a better Sauvignon Blanc anywhere in the world.

The Steenberg welcome is as you would get in a country house. The staff introduce themselves and within days are your friends. That we can remember Gaby (the Manager), Natalie, Chuma and Kamala in Reception (to mention only a few of the staff) shows how quickly you are made to feel at home.

Our room was a delight, with a little flower filled private courtyard, and beautifully furnished in a french chateau style. The other public rooms in the hotel were similarly furnished and simply oozed good taste.

On top of all this you get Catharina's, the hotel's astonishingly good restaurant. Both the warthog and the springbok, as cooked by Chef', Garth Almazan, are absolutely delicious. His touch is just as sure with fish. Huge crayfish, much too big for our plates, were as good as we have eaten anywhere; cooked to perfection and wholly memorable. Try his Fruits of the Sea (I think it was called that), an overflowing hot plate of tasty cape salmon, clams, prawns and crayfish served with little tubes of baked mashed potato. It has to be high on my list of best dishes ever. On our last evening my wife Selvy, who is Indian, asked Garth if he could cook for her a traditional Cape Malay curry which was not on his menu. He was on a complete hiding to nothing, in cooking a curry for an Indian, but he took it on. It was a knock-out! Selvy, after cleaning her plate, gave it her greatest compliment saying it was as good as the curry her mother used to make. Well done Garth!

A word of warning about Catharina's. It is one of the very best restaurants in Cape Town, and maybe the world. It is therefore very popular. You must book every day, or you will not get in, and that would be a tragedy. The Hotel, to cope with the demand, offers guests a free shuttle service to and from other local vineyard restaurants. Some of these are very good - but they are not Catharina's.

Finally, I must mention the bar. After dinner it was our habit to drift from Catharina's to the adjoining bar presided over by Arthur, the head barman, and his team. There we would have some excellent coffee, some more Sauvignon Blanc, and then delicious South African brandy as a night cap. Arthur, with Pearl his number two and his friendly bar staff could run any of the finest bars anywhere in the world. They are so professional; just sitting watching them calmly putting complicated bar orders together for the restauarant was an entertainment in itself.

I could go on and on about the Steenberg Hotel, but will conclude with my strongest recommendation that you try it for yourselves. We went to South Africa to play golf and we played on many of the great golf courses around Cape Town, including Pearl Valley (the best), but our abiding memory is of that wonderful hotel, the Steenberg.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Steenberg for 3 nights in December as our son's wedding reception was being held at the adjoining golf club. From the moment we arrived, we received fabulous services in really beautiful surroundings.

We had a very spacious room with a huge bathroom and a lovely patio with a view of some of the gardens and the nearby mountain. The furnishings were a lovely mix of antique and modern with all the little touches that make a hotel stay memorable. We also had a lovely lounge area right outside our door so we had the feeling of having even more space.

Friends were travelling with us with their daughter and they had one of the family suites which was equally beautiful with a bathroom that was bigger than most bedrooms.

What really stood out for us was the exceptional and hospitable service we received from every staff member we can in contact with. I was able to book hairdressing and makeup appointments months in advance and Sumari Vorster was not only very helpful in making the arrangements for us but was extremely prompt in responding to all my questions. Once we arrived at the hotel, every staff member seemed to know who we were and that we were there for our son's wedding. It was really special to have everyone offering good wishes on the big day.

As a side note, if anyone is looking for a truly wonderful venue for a wedding reception, the Steenberg golf club did a really marvelous job - great food, beautiful setting and excellent staff.

We would happily stay at the Steenberg again as it really is first class with great amenities, beautiful surroundings and staff that go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

We had a wonderful stay at the Steenberg Hotel! Even though it was only one night- we decided to stay overnight on a whim whilst we were having dinner at the equally wonderful "Catharinas" restaurant located on the same property. It was our 6 year anniversary and all of the staff really went the extra mile and covered our dinner table and bed with rose petals, The staff were all great and overall it was an unforgetable experience!

Lovely small hotel surrounded by an excellent maintained golf course. Very friendly staff and spacious and luxurious rooms.
Unfortunately the restaurant was under construction during our stay, so we didn't get a perfect seat for dinner. But we are sure we''l come back again soon.
