Beautiful, pristine, photogenic, historical setting. We took the purple bus and did the museum tour and wine tasting. The beauty of the winery was soured when we experienced a racist incident during the wine tasting: The white lady served the white people around us, but would not serve me...twice! We are South African's of Indian descent, and Susan wouldn't even make eye contact with me! Extremely disappointing. I have reported the incident to Groot Constantia, who immediately made an excuse for her, saying that 'it probably was not intentional' but that they would investigate! Racism is certainly NOT dead in South Africa!

We arrived at Groot Costantia via the red bus tour. Although, it was an overcast fall day, we were able to warm up in the restaurant with delicious food and of course wine. The service was great and we appreciated the honest advice when we had inquiries. I would recommend this place for the amazing and tranquil environment as well as the delicious food and wine. I did not see anything but smiles while we were there from both staff and guests...even when we all got caught in a rainstorm. Wonderful place to spend the afternoon.

Groot Constantia is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa. It's well worth the visit to enjoy some wine tasting. If you're taking the hop on hop off red bus, it stops here, so you can visit the wine farm.

Groot Constantia is the oldest vineyard in South Africa. A great place to visit close to Cape Town. Very relaxing place with a few restaurants of different style. It is recommended to join the cellar tour with a combined wine tasting. In fact the included wine tasting is the more interesting part.
But you can also just go there and enjoy a lunch and some wine in the garden.

For a VIP tasting you pay a lot of extra money and for that you get to sit in a separate room away from the majority of people who taste wine at these premises.

But you don’t get any wow experience - there is no introduction to a wine maker, nothing to nibble on during the tasting. You are essentially tasting the same wines as everybody else.

The wine guide while knowledgeable on the wine was just picked out of the main tasting room at the last second so you could just as easily got him there if you had not paid the extra cash.

The main tasting room is nicer than the room where you would pay to be separated from the other tasters.

Although booked in advance the tasting was put together at the last second when guests arrived at cellar.

You might just as well have done a hop on hop off red bus experience at a fraction of the cost.

Nothing special about VIP experience.
