Spent 3 nights at the Constantia as part of our honeymoon trip around the world. During this trip we were able to experience some of the best hotels in the world, but no accommodation was as special and personal as the Constantia. Originally wanted to stay near the waterfront since we were not driving in Cape Town, but the place came highly recommended by our travel agent (Kathryn from Perfect Africa), and it did not disappoint!!
Arrived to a warm personal greeting from Claire, directed straight to our room to find pure luxury. The rooms are very large and unique, and the connecting bathroom was very beautiful. The service at this B&B was some of the best we have ever experienced (and we have stayed in places like Burj-Al-Arab), and I have never experienced a hotel that paid so much attention to detail.
Excellent breakfast prepared every morning by Beauty with very personal touches, special little surprise treats awaiting you daily when you return from your daily adventures, and as stated in many reviews, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We dined out every night, so cannot comment on lunch or dinner. Since we did not drive, we arranged private city tours conducted by Henny (the driver at the hotel), and they worked out perfect.
I would however recommend renting a car and driving, as it gets very costly to book trips back and forth from the b&b to Cape Town’s main areas of attraction. The hotel is happy to arrange all transportation, but again it gets a little costly. Since it was raining when we were there in mid July, we did not get to enjoy the pool and surroundings, but it did look very charming. The hotel grounds are very pretty, and you do feel very at home. The rooms are stocked with plenty of premium alcohol, which is all included in the cost of the stay. The lobby bar is also fully stocked, and you can just help yourself at any time.
Although I do like staying in large central hotels, I wouldn’t change this experience for anything. The place is very small (only 7 or 8 rooms in all), and very romantic. A perfect getaway for some R&R.
Will definitely return to Constantia, and would HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious romantic personal experience. You really feel like your are invited into someone’s home as their personal guests
