This hotel is absolutely fabulous. Room was excellent, beautifully decorated, balcony, sea views and also kitchen area with everything you could wish for all provided.
Breakfast was wonderful.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Able to watch whales from the balcony of room.
There is a small spa in the hotel which is reasonably priced. Wi fi i s available also.
The location of the hotel is right next to the town square, which has some fantastic restaurants.
Would have no hesitations in recommending this hotel.

This place has a fantastic location and the rooms - at least those with a sea view - are OK
The Spa is excellent value
The staff are pleasant enough - and Jaimie went out of her way before our trip - but I think they lack any real leadership and so they let things go that shouldn't happen. Especially for the rates they charge
Not expensive by any means - but not cheap either and I would expect more from a hotel in this category, even something as basic as free WiFi for instance
Good enough as a point for catching the whales or going shark diving - but not somewhere to hurry back to or to stay for any time

We spent 2 nights here in September 2012.

There was a lot to be impressed about - the exquisitely decorated rooms, the beautiful pool area, the incredible views, the proximity to the town square, the incredible breakfasts (the fresh scones were amazing) and the spotless cleanliness.

However, the hotel lacks that personal touch - the front desk staff are unfriendly and disinterested (with the exception of the porter we had helping us with our bags) and did not try and assist at all in any way in making our stay more enjoyable.

The turndown service was exactly that - a perfunctory turning down of the duvet and a quick bottle of water next to the bed - rather than trying to make your turning in for the night more comfortable.

The hotel is acceptable and does the trick, but if you want a more personal touch try the Whale View Guest House where we stayed before.

My travel agent booked this hotel and it was brilliant. We only stayed there one night which was a pity because it was a lovely hotel. The room was huge and had a chandalier, balcony with an ocean view and a comfortable bed. An excellent restaurant across the road provided us with dinner and we saw whales in the ocean; a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: All rooms facing the ocean are brilliant.

This is a very well located hotel, the rooms, modern and well equipped. The guy on the front desk was great fun and gave the impression he wanted you to have a good stay. Free internet in the business centre was a plus. The modern room décor might not be to everyone’s taste but otherwise difficult to fault. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as a great place to stay at any time.

A warm and helpful check-in is always a good start. And we had one, including prompt assistance for an ill member of our party. Rooms are modern, well equipped and front facing rooms enjoy a good harbour view. The front office manager, Bronwen, escorted us to a nearby fish restaurant as the adjacent Burgundy restaurant (recommended) was full. Ask the hotel to book it in advance for you. Pool area is great, especially for whale watching. Location is also superb, adjacent to the old harbour, and walking distance to the main attractions. Breakfast was a mixed experience. The restaurant was severely understaffed and the lone waiter soon became besieged by annoyed patrons. Some of our party gave up and left, while others were served promptly and enjoyed a good breakfast. There was a surge of customers at the time and the hotel should ensure they have efficient backup staff. Apart from the besieged Indian waiter, the other serving staff were ineffective. Next time, I would take breakfast at the Burgundy, a great place.

Room Tip: Harbour facing rooms preferred.

Everything about the Harbour House is first class. The views from the front of the hotel are perfect for whale watching. The hotel is right in the middle of the town. Very close to some excellent resturants and cliff top walks . Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.
