First of all the location is spot on, you can not get any better in Hermanus. It is in walking distance of the shops, which is already very convenient, but it is also accross probably the best restaurant in Hermanus, Burgundy (see my other review). Our room also overlooked the bay, which was amazing watching the sun set and rise from your balcony gave it an extra touch.

The room was very modern and had everything we required, we were so happy that we extended our stay by a night, unfortunately we couldn't stay in the same room, but the second rooms was even more to our liking. There the only downside was that we could hear people passing our room and hearing them talk during breakfast.

The staff were very friendly and helpfull. On our first night we had a lovely chat with Prince, who is a gem, very funny, so cheerful and motivated. It is nice to see people actually enjoying their jobs.

Breakfast was outstanding, the buffet was beautiful and fresh, with the choice of many items available. Their muffins stood out for me, tasting of caramel and still warm when you grab them, they were delicious. They also come to your table to take your hot-breakfast order.

This place is a bit more expensive, but we found it to be totally worth our money and when we return we will book here again, 100% value for money.

Room Tip: Spend a bit extra, it's not cheap anyway and opt for the luxury rooms

Great service.

Lovely staff.

Pool menu great. Would go again. Old part of hotel beautiful but no air conditioning.

Crickets werrrrre verrrry loud.

Great braai area in apartment for a beach front braai/BBQ.

Highly recommended.

Spent 2 nights here on way from PE to Cape Town. We were given a big serviced apartment because we asked for adjoining rooms. However this smelled of disinfectant and had loads of grasshoppers in it! We asked to move and were then put into two lovely double rooms, which were not interconnecting. These rooms were in the main building which is where you must ask to stay. The staff were lovely and helpful, the location is superb, right in the centre of town, the pool was kid friendly (though a little cold) and the food for breakfast as good as we'd had on holiday to date.
Whilst whales are not meant to be around, we did leap off our loungers once, when a load of tourists spotted a whale close by the hotel. We were very lucky to see one in April. In whale season this hotel is in the best location.
Hermanus itself was wonderful with great restaurants (try 'Burgundy' directly opposite the hotel) and some good touristy shops. Lots of things to do in town too and well located for shark diving, kayaking, zip line adventures and some wonderful beaches about 5k out of town.
The hotel was very cheap indeed (£50 a night per room) but is in no way a down market place. The difference in price compared to The Plettenberg highlighted the difference in price you can pay, if you are not careful!

My husband and I stayed at Harbour House on our first year anniversary. We received a complimentary upgrade to a full sea view facing room and cake + rose petals had been scattered around the room! We loved our stay, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, amazing pool and location. Breakfast was great and we saw whales while sitting we ate! Would definitely recommend Harbour House to anyone who wants a relaxed getaway!

We stayed in a romantic room which was beautiful and open plan, with just the toilet in a separate room. It had a lovely big bathtub, walk in shower and his & hers basins. The bed was a good size and very comfortable. The decor was very chic and the room felt lovely and spacious.
The burgundy restaurant is right opposite and was recommended to us, (it was fab!) the hotel faces the sea and is in a great location for exploring Hermanus.
Breakfast was good, and we had lunch there one day too which was also fantastic. The service was generally good with a few of the members of staff being exceptional, going out of their way, the reception staff and one of the waiters called Prince stood out too. He served us at lunch and said he thought it might rain and he would prepare us another table under cover just in case, it did rain so we were quickly moved. He was also good fun and had a bit of a laugh & joke with us and always waved or spoken then we saw him again.
We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again if we went back to Hermanus.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 and it was lovely, right near the pool with beautiful views

We came from Cape Town for a getaway weekend to eat at the excellent Burgundy restaurant across the road from the hotel and play golf at the beautiful Hermanus Golf course. Also popped in for a drink and light meal at the well positioned Gecko Bar at the New Harbour. The hotel is very well located in Hermanus. The room was clean, modern and large enough. Service friendly. Just take your own soft/feather pillows though as they weren't able to provide on request.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking enclosed parking if possible. No view.

Wonderful location overlooking sea. Spacious rooms and restful decor. Close to cliff walks and village centre.
Breakfast room very small and noisy. Staff rather unsure about service in garden area where orders were mixed up but they were very charming
