Our study here was wonderful . The house is right across from the water and has a beautiful view. Our room was very nice but the owner is what makes this place so unique. She was just great, making dinner reservations and plans for our trip for the next day. Breakfast was delicious. If you are going to Hermanus don't look any further, stay here.

We stayed with Belinda at 138 for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. When we arrived she had already made a provisional booking for dinner at one of the restaurants locally she recommended. Ideal as this meant we didn't need to think further or organise anything - very relaxing!

Lovely service / rooms were extremely comfortable / internet was free and good speed which is often important when you are are away!

Breakfast is slightly different each day very tasty and sets you up for the day. The communal lounge upstairs looks over the ocean and there is a fridge there large enough for guests to store a bottle of wine or snack pre dinner. We were given recommendations about the local area which were very helpful , although we didn't have enough time to do everything on this trip.

We ran on the beach every morning and the whole place felt very safe and relaxing

We hope to return on our next trip - golf is good in Hermanus and the small town is very pleasant too. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I only stayed one night as part of tour, but having experienced the place, we would have loved to stay longer. The whole place was immaculate in design and cleanliness. Belinda had made dinner reservations for us in the centre of Hermanus just in case we hadn,'t which was thoughtful. We had already made our own bookings online, in the same restaurant funnily enough, as we had heard how booked up these restaurants get in high season. The views of the sea were beautiful and the location peaceful, (a short taxi ride from the centre of Hermanus). The breakfast was really first class as was the service.

My wife and I spent a couple of great days at 138 Marine!
The decor is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable.
Food is also great! Breakfast includes cold and hot options.

The real highlight of this place is hospitality. Berlinda and Jenna make sure you are well looked after! If you want to relax and enjoy good food, don't think twice.

We had such a wonderful stay at 138 Marine thanks to the warm hospitality, incredible ocean views (the sunsets were spectacular!) and delicious breakfasts.

The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, recommending and booking some great local restaurants for us. (Try the 'bookshop' restaurant!)

I also really liked the beachy chic decor - think pale blues, stripes and shells - as well as how clean and modern everything felt. The guesthouse had such a calm, relaxing vibe. It was a pleasure sitting with a book, sipping on a complimentary coffee, in the communal 'living room' with it's book lined shelves, floor to ceiling windows and sea-facing balcony.

We'll definitely return during whale season for a front row seat!

We stayed over in this guesthouse for 3 nights. The view is absolutely breath taking, with the waves breaking just across the road. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and their service exceptional. The room was comfortable and spotless clean. An incredible good hot breakfast was served. This guesthouse was really very good value for money. We will surely be back!

We chose this guesthouse based on the Tripadvisor reports and booked in with our family. On being shown to our room upstairs we were told that it was a golden rule that children were not allowed upstairs. We were unhappy with this arrangement as it meant that we could not enjoy the upstairs lounge or front deck with our son’s family and young granddaughter as they had to remain downstairs. I discussed this with Belinda and told her we were traveling as a family and as such we wanted to be together. She said that she would check with the owners if we could use the upstairs lounge, she said she did not see this as a problem but we should retreat if any other guests came in. In the end this overshadowed our entire stay and we checked out early the next day. I don’t believe it is fair to give people with children a lesser experience than other guests and feel this establishment should make a decision whether it is accepting children or not and adjust their offering accordingly.

We do want to apologise sincerely (as we did in person during the stay of these guests) that we could not meet their expectations. The Seastar Room (the only room downstairs) which we allocate to parents with children, is a superior room with uninterrupted sea views, and often preferred by honeymooners because of its stylish features. The Seastar guests also have the use of the downstairs lounge with its 180 degree sea views, as well as the spacious terrace.

However, it is important to note that it is out of consideration for our other guests (often parents who long for an “escape” from their own children!) that we request guests not to leave young children unsupervised in the lounge on the first floor.

Since we have great sympathy for families travelling with children, we are starting with the construction of a dedicated family room on 7 May. This room will be very spacious, with ‘sideways’ views on the ocean and mountains through two huge windows. The guests will also have a private patio, as well as direct access to the downstairs lounge.

We will continue to offer our young guests (and their parents) special attention during their stay with us, by providing a designer cot or high chair when necessary, as well as toys to keep the little ones busy. We really try to go the extra mile to make all our guests feel welcome at all times, and trust this will even be more so in future!
