“Incredible!!!”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

We went here numerous times over our recent weekend away. The service is pretty standard for any cafe/bistro, so dont expect to be pampered. What I did like was that the chef/owner often comes to the tables to check that you are happy. Nice touch. BUT THE FOOD........
Everything we ate and drank there was simply some of the best we have ever had. You would expect to pay gourmet pricing for what you get, but its actually very reasonable. We went to other "high class" resturants during our stay, and they could not even compare.

If you are in Hermanus, you owe it to your stomach to go here. REALLY.

“A big thumbs up!”

For a casual eat on a leisurely day, you cannot go wrong at Savannah. You are made to feel as part of their family with each visit and the service is excellent. Meals are affordable and tasty and they make a lovely cappucino.

A must when visiting Hermanus!

“Good basic food”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

Ate here for supper and lunch. The lunch was outstanding. The supper menu was a bit limiting. But if you are looking for good home cooking with no flair than you can do know worse than eat here. The prices are reasonable and the service excellent.

“Processed Calamari Rings”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

Sadly they DO NOT serve REAL Calamari Rings BUT rather Processed Calamari Rings which tastes like Fish Fingers .....
While we could not fault the quality of The Food eaten by the rest of our Family apart from the fact that my Dads meal came after the rest of us were finished eating due to the fact that they had dropped his food in the kitchen (which is a fair excuse as this was communicated timeously), we were sadly made to feel very embarrassed when The Owner demanded I leave his restaurant for querying him on serving Dummy Calamari.

Hake & Calamari Combo was R95 per serving.
His response was that Patagonian Calamari is very expensive due to the Rand vs. Dollar exchange rate He ranted "I cant understand what your problem is as nobody has ever complained before" ....
ALL this happening while my Dad is trying to swallow his food whole just to get out of there!!
Have you ever heard such a thing ?

Website Reads "The emphasis is on sustainable, local products prepared with loving care"
Well NOT their Calamari !!!!

We were presented with the Bill and were amazed to find that we were charged for the Hake & Calamari Combo in Full even though I did not eat the Calamari.... The waitress later reversed it & charged me for a Hake & Chips instead (shocking)
I was OUTSIDE by that time as my wife was already in tears & I did not want to create more of a scene.

“Very Pleasant all round!”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Visited this restaurant twice during our short stay, once for lunch and returned for dinner. Both occasions were most enjoyable. Food delicious with extra special touches for the presentation. Service from friendly staff added to the experience. On Saturday evening there was also live background music.
Will definitely dine there again when in Hermanus and will recommend to others.
