A great golf course. Notwithstanding the rain and wind, we thoroughly enjoyed this course. The fairways are great and the greens very true. Sand traps are a nightmare so don't end up in there if at all possible. They are hard so difficult to get under your ball. Good layout and not too difficult for high handicappers.
Great club house, food and facilities too.

After having played 6 courses in the Western Cape over the past week, where we were given a warm and friendly welcome at each and every one of them, our experience alas at Hermanus Golf Club was very disappointing.
The staff, both in the pro shop and the starters hut, were both unwelcoming and unhelpful. We got the distinct feeling that this was a members club for the members and visitors were a nuisance!

We plan to visit the Western Cape area on a regular basis to play golf and based on our experience, Hermanus GC will not be on our list of "must plays"
In the future.

27 holes, so a good chance of getting a game. Men's comps on Wed from 11h30. Ladies comp on Tue from 11h30 & mixed comp on Saturdays from 11h30. Current special of R100 / 10Euro / 10 USD for 9 holes after 16h00. You do not have to be a member of a club. Hire clubs and golf buggy. Gets dark about 19h00. Lovely views of sea & mountains from the tees & greens. Ample caddies available. Abundant fynbos & proteas. Tame geese and abundant bird-life. Baboons often forage on the course , however baboon monitors protect you. Challenging course with almost all greens elevated, so take an extra club. Excellent clubhouse with ample food at halfway or on the veranda after the game. Bar well stocked. Driving range , chipping facility , huge practice putting green and bunker practice area. 3 Marshalls are on duty to assist & guide you. The pro-shop is also well-stocked and 3 professionals are available if you require some lessons.

Because of course maintenance and a latish tee time ( around 9) we were unfortunately unable to play 18 as needed to leave tee times for a ladies competition. There had been heavy rain before hand but course coped well with the deluge. Greens had been heavily sanded but this did not detract from a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Very well stocked pro shop and reasonable price for the green fees ( they allowed a reduction because of the course work). Friendly welcome. A testing course with some tricky narrow fairways.

Unfortunately we visited when SA Amateur Open was taking place so only nine holes available for general play. The club was able to fit us in so we had several rounds over holes nineteen to twenty seven. Very friendly staff on the course and in the clubhouse.
