We stayed 6 nights in Hermanus and dined in the Cattle Baron in the Square twice because the food was so good. The first time, I had the fillet and Queen Prawn combination which was very tasty, beautifully served in a warm and friendly environment. The second time was a calculated move and we selected the 3 courses. Starters were calamari steak strips and calamari tubes, fried then I moved to the signature dish, the Chateaubriand steak and my wife had the Carpetbagger with mussels and cheese. Dessert for us both was Amarula ice cream. When we left, we were greeted by the franchisee like old chums at the door as we waited for the drizzle to subside. The food was outstanding and the steak melted in the mouth. The calamari was also delicious, quite the best prepared I have had in many years! Very highly recommended as a suitable venue for any occasion.
