“So interesting”

A lovely museum complex to visit - we all learnt something new - from kids to adults - some very interesting facts and the whale skeleton allows one to realise how big they are.

“Needs urgent fonds”
Reviewed 26 December 2013

Pricy to get in ZAR 50.00 for parents and child, nothing really to see, scale ton of a whale, with a bit more brain and money, you could so so much more! Specially this town lives most of the year from tourists that visit the whales....shame!

“Informative & Interesting !!”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

This museum is tucked away behind an amazing life size statue of a southern right whale and the Village Square parking and can be missed easily.
The visit takes not more than 30-45 minutes including a video show on the whales and is a must visit to learn more about the whales and their different species and see a real whale skeleton.
I actually learned for the first time that the whale skeleton under the flippers has finger like bones.
Good for family and kids. The entry fee is nominal.

“Bigger inside than it looks”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

One ticket covers this and the old harbour museum so worth doing both. There's a sound/slide show presentation infrequently in one room (I had to ask for itbut they were fine about setting it up even though there was only me). Lots of information boards and life size skeleton. I found it very educational eg I didn't know some types of whale(Baleen whales, the ones with no teeth) have 2 blowholes
