“Gem Of Hermanus”
Reviewed 26 January 2013

We spent one fabulous night at this hotel on 16th Jan 2013 and were delighted with the standard of accommodation, the luxury ambiance of the hotel and the friendliness of the hotel staff. The hotel is in a fantastic location over looking the ocean and close to the main centre. The swimming pool and sun loungers are perfect for relaxing and soaking up the warm January sunshine. A pool bar service means you don't have to wander far from your sun bed to obtain a well deserved refreshment! The rooms are stunning and well furnished with luxurious touches incorporated within all the fixtures and fittings. The Waves restaurant where breakfast and evening meals are served has a spectacular view of Hermanus Bay and picture windows that slide open giving you an un-interrupted view of the beautiful surroundings - what a way to start your day! The food was of a particularly high standard and the choice was outstanding. The waiting staff were attentive and only too pleased to accommodate your requests. The breakfast flap jacks are a must! A special thank you to Angelique who made us exceptionally welcome and whose service to her guests is first class. We cannot wait to return and this time plan to make full use of the Spa Facilities the hotel offers. Thank you Misty Waves. See you again next year!

Room Tip: All rooms are of a high quality. Partial sea views offer great views of the ocean.

Back in Hermanus we stayed again at Misty Waves Hotel. This time we spent 4 nights in a spacious Honeymoon Suite with spa, and from our balcony we had a fantastic view over the bay. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from town center. The hotel is well managed and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We can strongly recommend this hotel for your stay in Hermanus.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 202, which we can highly recommend

We spent two nights at this hotel. I booked "the luxury heritage room" which was a quaint renovated fisherman's cottage and it certainly had character. However it was not for me, but we were able to upgrade to the honeymoon suite for a few more rand per night. The hotel offers spectacular views and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered a good choice but not brilliant. Overall we enjoyed our two days in Hermanus but I wouldn't rate this hotel as a four star establishment.

Room Tip: Don't book the heritage room if you are claustrophobic.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Misty Waves . The hotel is a short walk from the centre of town and well located. We stayed in the penthouse on the 2nd floor which lends itself to a great sea view however the Spa house situated next to the pool blocked out part of the view which I found frustrating. The room was spacious and comfortable, the decor lending itself to the overall look of the hotel with period pieces and heavy wooden antique furniture.

Service was friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were plentiful and adequate with beautiful views, however seemed to lack the class of a 4 star. My preference is to stay on the sea side of the road in future,as I also found the traffic while not hectic still annoying.

Room Tip: The penthouse has a lighter feel than the honeymoon suite, however the honeymoon suite has a better...

An awesome experience! We travelled to the Cape on business ( and relaxation) we stayed at the Blue Peter in Cape Town the first night....booked a suite, which we received, however, whilst the best view ever...a dull tired room with no balcony,no air con.... disappointing. Last night we checked into Misty Waves...also a suite. ...Wow what a difference! An amazing view..a suite that would surpass The Palace! Air con, balcony, jacuzzi bath, etc.etc. Unbelievable service, the team bent over backwards to be of service. The restaurant served Indian cuisine which was very reasonably priced and excellent! So, all in all an amazing experience! We will be back!....thank you team!

Room Tip: Sea facing...the waves Amex also looked good! The penthouse is the win!

We stayed for 5 nights in a penthouse luxury suite and were treated like family and like kings ! The owners daughter is very closely involved in the hotel and her extra attention to detail was superb. The decor is stunning and the room we stayed in was spacious and well appointed. The views from the hotel are stunning and the very close proximity to the centre of town while not being in the tourist crush area is recommended. We went for many wonderful walks along the cliff top path.

Room Tip: The upstairs penthouse suites are good

Excellent value for money. It has that personal touch to make you feel at home. Friendliness of staff went a long way to encourage one to return. This has now been our second visit and certainly not our last.
The room was beautifully furnished and kept need and tidy. Would however recommend the installation of an air conditioner because it gets unpleasantly warm during hot days and nights. The presence of the fans did help a bit but would prefer aircons. Despite this we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
