“Great stay”

I have stayed here on 2 occasions. The owners are very friendly and helpful. View of ocean is brilliant, and during whale season it's just amazing to watch the whales from your balcony! The owners even make restaurant reservations for you! Cabs are easily available so I found this very convenient! :-)

We stayed at Les Baleines for two nights as part of a tour of South Africa. The hotel is lovely with beautiful accommodation and stunning views of the bay and mountain. The two lounges are extremely comfortable with amazing views, a really relaxing environment at the end of a long day. As we were on a tour we did not have a car but our hostess kindly organised a taxi one night and took us into town the next morning. Taking her advice we walked from the town down to the headland and had a lovely fish lunch. We can honestly say that we have never stayed at a hotel where the host and hostess were so warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

A picturesque quiet location on a hillside outside of main town. Great and stunning views of the coast and mountains behind. Beautiful property with spacious rooms and plenty of areas to relax both inside and out. Host was extremely welcoming and shared some very interesting family history. We stayed 2 nights but would have enjoyed longer.

We stayed here at the start of March, not knowing what to expect.

We arrived for a one night stay, and were given a comprehensive tour of the property and encouraged to enjoy the facilities. Our room was in the annexe and was spacious and welcoming with all the appropriate facilities(tea coffee etc.) and the proptietor had made us a reservation for dinner!!! I would normally be taken aback at this, but the restaurant had been highly recommende to me previously, and was on my list to try. As it happens the restaurant is very popular and bookings are almost compulsory for dinner.

The views from the deck of the property are beautiful, and our breakfast was an all encompassing feast taken in the breakfast room with views through the open patiodoors acrosss this very decking. We will willingly return to this charming oasis of peace in the future, but will certainly stay longer.

At first we wondered where we going as Les Baleines is at the top of a hill, however the view is really worth climbing up, however you are better off using the car rather than walking. The hotel is extremely clean and the ladies who work there are very helpful and the owner can't do enough for you.

Room Tip: A lovely place to spend the night

We stayed here for 1 night on our Honeymoon.
We where greeted warmly and given a tour of the wonderful house. The decor and surroundings are beautiful.
We where advised a dinner had been reserved for us in a local hotel but we could cancel if we wished.
We decided to cancel as we spotted another place we wanted to eat. that was no problem.
Our room was lovely and bathroom impressive.
We booked the local taxi, and they where a scream and so much fun.. They where very interested in our trip and happy to give us advise etc for our adventure.

only thing missing for us was that, it was an honesty bar, yet it wasn't stocked, there was no minerals there to have with your spirit!! plenty of wine for me but the husband had to go without.

other than that, lovely hotel and would reccomend.

We were booked into Les Baleines for 2nights on a B&B basis in late January 2013.
The boutique experience is special, personal and cosy. There are only 7 or 8 rooms so it is in no way a busy place.
It is situated quite a few miles east of the centre of Hermanus, but if you have car, and that is how most people see the Garden Route, then it is not a problem. You might say it is an advantage, since you get the advantage of privacy. As in other reviews, we would agree it is luxurious, the bedrooms are beautiful and the wet room/bathrooms are superb.
Breakfasts are standard, but lovely. Teresa, who welcomed us, had reserved restaurants for us in town for the evenings, which was excellent, and they did not disappoint. Hermanus town is an upmarket, beautiful town and I wish we could have stayed longer. 5 stars!
