Even though we arrived a couple of hours early, our hosts Anna & Hardy greeted us cordially (we had interrupted their family lunch!) showed us to our room and gave us a welcome coffee on our own private patio. The room was large and every extra had been thought of and supplied: guest robes, water, fridge, beach towels, even insect repellant! The bathroom had every possible amenity and fresh towels were replaced as soon as they had been used. When we returned from our evening out we thought we had left the lights on but our hosts had been in to do a "turn down" service complete with a "whale" chocolate on each pillow - a nice touch. A bonus of this guest house is the guest lounge (which Hardy kindly tuned to the golf for my husband!) and an honesty bar. they even flew little flags to denote the nationality of each resident! Breakfast was plentiful with good choices. Out of our 10 guest house stays on this trip - the comfort given and professionalism shown by Anna & Hardy made it our favourite.

The Anha Casa Guesthouse in Hermanus was recommended to us by the Tourist Office and it is a lovely homely place with only three rooms available. You are well looked after by the owners, Anna and Hardy who are delightful. It is a short (safe)walk out of the town. We did the Dyer Island whale tour from Kleinsbaai (40 min drive away) on the Whale Whisperer boat and would highly recommend it. We were lucky enough to spot a great white shark as well as numerous whales, seals and penguins and the crew are totally professional but great fun too. The town of Hermanus seemed very quiet in the evening - even at peak season the restaurants were emptying at ten o'clock, so it's not a late night place. If you want a bit of nightlife try Cubana bar. There's also good Italian restaurants in the little town. Hermanus is a charming place with a lot of character to it and the scenic drive from Cape Town is lovely.
