Spacious is the word that comes to mind, with your own fully equipt kitchen with state of the art decor. A winter welcomer with gas fireplace and underfloor heating in the bedroom and bathroom. You name it - you can see it, from the picturous Heads to the renown golfcoarse all the way up the valley.

Without doubt the best place we stayed at in South Africa. Fantastic accommodation in a stunning location. We stayed for 4 nights in a very spacious two-bedroomed suite with private patio and garden. We wished we had stayed for a fortnight. There are the most stunning views of Kynsna bay, from so many places - the garden, the swimming pool, the restaurant and even from the sauna! The gym was top quality. Breakfasts are very good although the service was very slow and needs to improve.. . Staff were were friendly and competent and there is a nightly turn down service if desired. We did not play golf and you certainly don't need to to enjoy this hotel. It made our holiday.

We stayed 2 nights as part of a Garden Route tour, with this being the first stop after leaving Cape Town. The property is beautiful, up on top of a hill overlooking the lagoon into the ocean. The golf course is beautiful as well. Our lagoon facing room was enormous; more like an apartment. Stove, even a grill on the patio, large bathroom and smallish bedroom. The bedroom and living room opened up to a patio and stunning view. Service was courteous. We hit balls at the driving range and putting green, and that was top notch. The spa looked lovely, although we didn't use it. What I didn't love-Gym was smaller than it seemed from the site and crowded to use even with only 3-4 people at a time. Restaurant was decent but service was beyond slow. Internet did not work well, intermittent and with weak connection, and each location around the hotel had a different password, given incorrectly to us by the staff. Mini bar was not stocked and we had to ask for everything, even ice. There were spiders all over the hallways leading to our room, which gives me the heebeejeebees. Room service menu was very limited compared to restaurant menu.
The most disappointing thing was realizing how far we were from town. It was a 5-10 minute drive up a long hill, and at the bottom of that hill still 5-10 minutes from town. Not convenient to just popping out of the hotel and exploring the local town, so it felt isolating. I'd have rather been closer to the city center. The hotel also did not have any literature about the area attractions so we didn't even know where town was. They directed us to the wharf, which is not the same thing. If you're looking for a peaceful beautiful escape, this is great. If you want to be closer to the action just know that it is a drive away. I'd say it's more for a bit of an older crowd and we are 30-ish.

I stayed at Simola for one night on a motorbike roadtrip from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The hotel had only opened a few weeks ago and I picked up a really good rate for an ensuite bedroom, which can also be booked as part of a much larger 2-bedroom-suite.

Despite arriving in my dusty motorbike clothes, not like their usual golf-guests, I received a warm welcomed and was shown to my room in the suite-building which is separate to the main building, which also houses the golf course reception and facilities.

I could park my bike on a dedicated parking space right outside the building. The room was good sized, with small ensuite bathroom and a comfortable bed. Breakfast on the terrace in the main house was very good - but aside from the good food (and sometimes not very attentive service) the view across the Knysna Lagoon was simply spectacular!

Unfortunately I couldn't stay for a round of golf, which must be similiarly great.

We did not stay at the hotel but only ate in the Orchid Room on the recommendation of a golfing acquaintance, what a mistake, the food was very disappointing. The staff were fabulous and the setting is stunning but the food was no where near as good as anything on offer on Knysna Waterfront and a it was alot more expensive! I have been fortunate enough to eat in some very good five star hotel restaurants across the world and the Orchid Room lets the side down badly, if Denmark don't progress very far in the up coming World Cup we will know why............................... the quality of the food they have been eating will not have enhanced their performance on the pitch!!!

This was our second stay at Simola. Last year there were a few short-comings and I did mention them to Toitjie Muller the General Manager. This year everything has been put right. We had a brilliant stay and we will be coming back again next year. This year they were truly 5 star in every respect and it is no wonder they have been selected by the Danish national football team as their base for the world cup.
Thank you Toitjie!

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend with my hubby and two sons (9 and 12). Stunning! From moment you arrive you are made to feel like royalty! Apartments/rooms are very mod, clean, spacious with gas fireplace indoors and bbq outdoors undercover with the most unreal views of the golf course and the Knysna Heads. Staff are dedicated and professional. THIS is what 5* treatment, accommodation and courses are all about! I had very relaxing spa treatment and husband enjoyed two rounds of golf. I dont play but asked the golf shop to loan us a cart (which they did not hesitate to do) to take me around the course... wow, really, i can see what all the fuss is about! Had dinner with the kids the one evening and had lovely prawns for starters (not on the menu but chef made exception as it was part of a platter) which were deadly and then had fish for mains and hubby had steak, kids had calamari - really very good (and we eat out a LOT!) weather played along perfectly to make the most of the stunning pool area and when you needed to slip away from it all, the Still room with its views of the Knysna Heads from double volumed glass windows, unsurpassed! My kids became instant friends with the staff and had great fun dialing "9" to ask the lads to fetch them with the golf carts!!! I was really blown away and I would HIGHLY recommend this establishment to any golfing enthusiast or couple who want to peace, serenity, great service and great value for a truly unforgettable holiday! We were so taken by the place we are considering their fractional ownership option so we can enjoy Simola every year!Dont hesitate - book it now!!!!
