Anchorage is highly rated on Tripadvisor. We had dinner there last night and it was not great. There was one waitron who was unable to serve all the customers. There was a long wait for the food, during which time we were asked if we would take different vegetables. It appeared that the kitchen couldn't cope with the number of diners - many of whom were overseas tourists. We waited and waited - getting really hungry and irritated. One couple walked out. The food, when it eventually arrived, was OK - the vegetables were not nice. For the price, the evening out was disappointing - dinner at home would have been more enjoyable.

TripAdvisor pointed us to this restaurant, and, after eleven of us had reached Knysna that day from different directions, we needed a comfortable, easy-going place for our evening meal. Even as we walked in, the promise of something special was there as we eyed a fellow diner's seafood platter, which we subsequently ordered for two of our eleven to share. Drinks were served efficiently, and tasty starters were soon on the table.

Sadly, the weight of eleven diners then fell on the kitchen - my wife, who had declined a starter, saw food only after two hours plus since the time we entered the restaurant. It was truly sad that this was the case because it tended to mask the excellent quality of each of the dishes put before us.

We loved this restaurant! The food was superb - and they had some interesting things that were really nicely done. As great as the food was, the owners really capped off the experience. They were so nice, helpful and charming. I would highly recommend this place

The Anchorage is one of several eating places right on the waterfront and close to the tourist shops. There is a wide range of good food, and the views in the afternoon across the lagoon are stunning.

This is a small restaurant with a lovely ambience. We went out midweek and it was really well attended. One may have to book in season as Anchorage is very well situated between the Waterfront and hotels in Gray street so is well attended. Being a value for money destination with great seafood and steaks makes this an ideal place for a great meal.
We were a selction of seafood lovers and carnivores and were all pleased with the excellent quality of our dishes. The steaks are well matured and cooked exactly to order. Great friendly and efficient service by Kelly our hostess. Will be back again.
