“A superb place with wonderful atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2010

The Bamboo Guest House offers a unique atmosphere with rooms set in a "jungle" atmosphere and very friendly staff. Situated on the outskirts of Knysna in a quiet location with easy access to nearby restaurants, beaches and shopping facilities. The staff are very knowledgeable about the local area and willing to provide information, maps, travel details etc. at any time of the day. We spent a lovely week there enjoying our own private swimming pool, sun terrace and beautiful peace and quiet as well as many superb walks along the coast and in nearby forests.

We have just returned from a three month round the world trip and this is the best place we stayed in over 50 hotels and guest houses.

The setting is idyllic (beautiful gardens), the room was large ands comfortable (the honeymoon sweet!) but most of all Jaynie and Gordon were brilliant hosts.

What more could you ask for??

Had a fabulous time staying with Jaynie and Gordon. It was just what I needed after a stressful year. The gardens on the property are beautiful - so much so in fact that we didnt care that we couldnt find our way back to our room when we first arrived. We just wandered around taking everything in until we were found 10 minutes later by Jaynie still en route. The beds were so comfortable that we extended our stay by 4 nights and lost all interest in hitting the town as the lure of an early night in pillow heaven was too much temptation. Breakfast was amazing and all the staff were so happy and friendly, and whilst originally we were worried about the distance from the town centre, it really didnt matter in the end as we were totally absorbed in an oasis of calm (with random interjections of hilarious conversations). And if we did want to go into town Ben was always an enthusiastic and highly tolerant chauffer. I would go back and stay in the blink of an eye and highly recommend including this accomodation on your trip. Alison and Ruth

An absolutely lovely place, and Jaynie and Gordon are perfect hosts. Fantastic breakfast with homemade muffins abd cereal and fantastic pancakes(which my son loved helping to make in the kitchen). The appartments are spacious and clean, you have the feeling you´re in a lush tropical garden.
We would stay here again anytime.
Love to Jaynie and Gordon

Jaynie and Gordon, the animals and the tropical forest in which you stay are the star atttractions at this perfect retreat. The rooms are all decorated with African themes and the breakfasts are fantastic. Bamboo is definitely worthy of a few nights to explore the fabulous surroundings. You can even do a Day Safari at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve if you want. Jaynie will organise great places to eat and offer their own taxi service. Brilliant and memorable - we loved every moment and will recommend Bamboo and its family to all our UK friends.

We spent a lovely time in this Gues House. The accomodation was really nice and the place in the midle of hundred of trees was fantastic!
Thanks to the owners for their friendship!

Unfortunately, the weather was uncooperative during our two short days in Knysna, but the Bamboo made up for it. Since we couldn't hit the beach, we chilled in the boma and caught up with the friends we were traveling with. We loved having the little boma area where we could cook dinner and just relax. The room was so beautiful and luxurious, with a huge, plush bed. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were delicious. Since we were leaving early the next morning, they even packed us up a little bag of goodies to go!

The one thing I will point out is that the hotel is a short drive into the actual town. They do help you out with drivers if you want to have a few drinks though. There area it is in is very nice, but a bit more residential. It's a not a deterrent to staying there, it's just something be aware of if you were hoping to stay in town.
