I have never had a bad stay in a bed and breakfast in South Africa but this place is a cut above, and the reason for this is they think of everything that you could possibly need on your stay. The room was perfect, it as clean, there was a balcony with fabulous views, a fridge with fresh milk in, which was replaced as soon as you had used it, bathroom stocked with everything you need, hooks to hang your things on (lacking in some b&b's) a fantastic breakfast served on your balcony, excellent hosts who were visible and helpful but not intrusive.
It is a 20 minute walk to the quayside or town centre so ideally placed, I would not hesitate to come back or recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Room 2 ideally placed in between trees so good view over lagoon - all other rooms look good too

This guesthouse is everything you would want it to be, and more. From the warm welcome on arrival, the quality of the rooms and furnishings, to those important touches such as fresh milk in the fridge and high quality cosmetics in the bathroom. With superb views over the bay, who could fail to enjoy a delicious, freshly cooked, breakfast on the balcony. Marina had plenty of helpful suggestions for where to eat and what to do in the area. On her advice we walked to the waterfront for dinner (about 15min and there’s a wide range of restaurants to choose from), and felt perfectly safe in doing so. If we are ever in the area again we’d make for South Villa.

We stayed at south villa for six nights as part of our journey down the garden route, we had spent the day driving from Cape Town. We were met by marina and Chris when we arrived who kindly made us some coffee . Anything about the south villa is great the location, breakfast, the rooms and all the advice we were given plus we were made so welcome it felt like home. So if you stay in knysna I am sure south villa will meet all your expectations.

The trip to Knysna was meant to offer a little respite from reality and the location could not have been more ideal. The service at the Guesthouse was perfect and the little personal touches made such a significant impact, from having breakfast served on the balcony, to being able to come "home" to a heated bed on a cold evening. The guesthouse is also perfectly located and the rooms have beautiful views.
My only problem with the entire experience was that I could not stay longer. I will, however, definitely be going back.

We stayed for two night to do most of the things that Knysna offers. The rooms have an amazing view of the sea. We took the biggest double room with bigger bedroom and bathroom for R 100 more and it was worth it. All rooms have a safety box and a DVD player if you are interested to watch films. However knysna offers a lot of activities.
The owner of the guesthouse was really kind, she gave us all the advice for all the attractions all along the garden route. This was definitely helpful.
We took breakfast in the balcony, however since it was really cold, we decided to take inside. Breakfast was delicious.
It is located on a hill, so it is worth to have a car to stay there.

Room Tip: For only 100 rands more take the bigger room at the end of the corridor.

This guesthouse has gotten its formula right. There are some nice extra touches. First, we were asked if we wanted coffee, tea or water served in the room upon arrival. Second, they restock apples and milk in the room everyday. Third, breakfast can be served in the patio with excellent view. Fourth, when the heater in the shower broke down, I was immediately given access to another room to minimise inconvenience. Fifth, the room heating was good with electric blanket and a heating panel.

On the downside, the wifi was a bit slow and patchy. Also, the bathroom was cold because it did not have a heated spotlight near the shower. Overall, we had a very nice stay.

We went to the South Villa Guest for the Knysna Cycle tour. We had the most wonderful time. The owners were so warm, welcoming and accomodating. The room was perfect. Its within walking distance of the waterfront. If we go back to Knysna we would definitely consider going back!
