Just a lovely property. It is situated on the Belvidere Estate which is on the Knysna Lagoon, not in town. It was a nice location but you should have a car available for convenience. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained. Rooms are really cottages spread around lawns and a pool area. The cottages are older but very neat and clean and have a lot of charm. We had a two bedroom, two bath unit which had it's own living room area and was very comfortable. Ate dinner in the pub on the premises twice because it was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. I want the chicken pot pie recipe!! Our breakfast was a wonderful buffet with gourmet cheeses, fruit, juices, pastries, yogurt, meats....and lots more! You can order waffles, eggs, pancakes, etc. in addition to the buffet. All the food was tasty and well prepared and presented. Service was very good. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would go back anytime myself!

Room Tip: The cottages are all pretty equal in quality.

We were a group of 25 who stayed at Belvidere Manor for a reunion weekend and everybody loved the cottages, the Bell and the excellent staff. There was not a single complaint and everybody was delighted that their rooms comprised a cottage with a full kitchen and a lounge with a fireplace. The staff were all excellent as was the price. The winter special is excellent value for money and the hotel is great in both good and rainy weather.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great.

Belvidere Manor is a classic estate with self catering cottages on the park-like property, reminiscent of a small planned village. The atmosphere in the park is laidback and personally I felt like I was going back in time (1920s, like I imagine myself that time of course). The location is 10min cardrive from Knysna, but this makes no problem since Knysna isn't that much of a big deal. The cottages itself are large and contain all you need for a few days off. The cleanliness is below-par when you look closer, but this is a minor thing.

The best thing about Belvidere Manor, except for the relaxing atmosphere, is the level of service. We were welcomed with self baked pastries and throughout our stay we felt spoiled with the personal attention we got. Especially Jeffrey should be mentioned in this respect, he may be over-the-top for some, but the way he joyfully executes his job is like a enjoyable little show.

We were also happy with the little pub. Don't expect miracles here, I read things like 'the best pub on the garden route' - this statement hugely depends on the other competiting pubs, but it is definitly a treat to have the typical but well prepared pub food here. The local brewed beer is also recommended!

We have just returned from our 9th visit to the Belvidere Manor Hotel having spent most of January there.
We would not want to be anywhere else at that time.
The ambience is superb.
The surroundings are lovely.
The cottages are very comfortable.
The breakfasts -on the terrace- are excellent.
The staff are friendly and very helpful.
The food and drink in the Bell Pub are of exceptonal value
(One Reviewer complained that it only sold "Pub food". What does he expect from a pub?)
We have already booked for next year.

Stayed 3 times last winter to play golf in the area. It was relaxing, friendly service, very comfortable cottages but with good value winter deals, and convenient for half a dozen good golf courses. We will be back next winter.
