“Great lodge, unhelpful receptionist”
Reviewed 12 January 2014 via mobile

Clean and well equipped lodges, great location with access to several closeby activities and stores. Nice pool area and play ground for kids. Unfortunately the receptionist proofed to be very unhelpful in various situations. No matter what one asks she'd gice you the feeling of disturbing her. The pre-ordered baby cot was not there and her suggestion was to organize one the day after since it was already too late in the afternoon (4pm), upon our remark that the baby would still need to sleep this night she nagged in some other language to a housekeeper making it very clear that she didn't care. Insisting helped finally and some guy brought it by. After leaving we realised that we forgot an item in the lodge and called to asked whether it was still there. She said she'd check and call back but never did. Pity they have such unpleasant employees cause otherwise a good place to go.

Good morning

Thank you for your recent feedback it is only with these reviews that we can correct problem areas and award staff that excel in their positions.
After careful research of the incident that you mentioned it has come to light that the day in question was the 25th of December 2013 Christmas day after 14:00. We have 3 cots on the resort in total two of those were handed out to guests already and the 3rd was taken by one of our previous guests (not handed back), the shops were closed seeing as it was a public holiday after 14:00 and the receptionist send down a single bed mattress that they took from another unit to your chalet for the night, we had to take that unit out of our system for the night and that cost us R2500.00, I am so sorry but at that stage it was the best we could do, the next morning as soon as the shops opened a new cot was purchased and brought to you.
Once again I would like to apologize from the resorts side if you felt that you were mistreated in any way.

Have a lovely day!!!

We spent 3 nights at the Knysna River Club, and stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet overlooking the lagoon. The kitchen was well equipped, the bedrooms were comfortable, and the lounge worked well for us once the kids were in bed and we could sit and chat with friends (difficult to do that in a hotel). The bathroom was small, and apparently there are chalets with 2 bathrooms which I would request next time. I had read reviews about furniture being outdated etc but we didn't find that to be an issue, and I'm picky.....
The chalet was serviced each day which was great.

Room Tip: Ask for lagoon facing

Knysna in itself is a small quaint town in SA. Knysna River Club has beautiful cottages for families and is a perfect getaway. Every chalet is equipped with a fully functional kitchen and there are BBQ pits outside every chalet. On the downside, you'll have to leave the river club for lunch and dinner if you decide not to quit. there is no in-room dining service available.

Because of its location, it gets awfully quiet in the night and can creep you out if you have not seen the guards stationed at the premises.

The chalets are located next to the lagoon and this is a plus. Nice walkway next to lagoon.
The location is great and you can visit a lot of places on day trips.
The chalets are nice and cosy and they clean it every day. They also replace your towels everyday.
The shower is just a shower head above the bath and then it is enclosed with a shower curtain. I hate shower curtains to start with and the space is very small so you touch it all the time! There is always a draft in the bathroom so the curtain moves a lot. The shower curtain is clean but I still hate it when it sticks to me. You also end up with water on the floor all the time.
The bed is very hard and uncomfortable. If you need darkness to sleep this is not the place for you. All the curtains are thin white material and it does not keep the light out.
I enjoyed the stay but won't go back due to the above mentioned.
If you don't have problems with shower curtains and light in the room, this is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: I would suggest a lagoon view.

Nice location by the river with security guard on duty all night which is comforting.Chalets are ok, clean but quite dated.wifi isnt great and took all night before we vould get on.Next day we were given 1 new password( whereas the day before we had one each) when I asked if we needed one each I was told an extra one would be 10 rand. When we arrived reception just gave us our room key and said nothing about breakfast times for the morning. We drove to our chalet which was in total darkness. My partner nearly fell down the steps in the dark as no outside light had been left on. It basically felt very unwelcoming compared to all the other lovely accommodation we stayed in.I dont think we would stay again, even with the lovely lake views.

We were there during the past long weekend in September 2013 and what a surprise as we booked through a third party. The cabin and surroundings were to say the least perfect. We had an excellent stay and were very impressed with the KRC. The staff were so, so helpful and friendly and the cabins very neat and tidy with everything you need, only bring your food. Nice and centrally situated it was the perfect spot for us to explore Knysna and surroundings.

We were there for the easter holiday and loved it. It is situated close enough to make day trips to places like cango caves, plett etc. Service from reception could have been better but the rest of the staff more than made up for it. Well worth it.
