“Great views and very good service”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We did the tour to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. You start and end with a short boat ride from Knysna to the property. The ride provides opportunities to see several bird species in marsh land habitat. You board a tractor-pulled tram that takes you to the top of the Western Kysna Head where you can clearly see the treacherous opening to the Eastern Head. Then you hike back down to entry point where you have a buffet meal (you can choose to have it included or not in the price of your ticket. For the price, the buffet option is good. The route that you hike down does have a lot of steps, but is not so strenuous as much as it is requiring attention to where you step. There is one spot where you can hike down to the ocean level that requires over 100 steps back up. It is worthwhile to do this part, but it is optional. There are a lot of spots on the hike down that are good opportunities for photos. This is a tourist activity that is worthwhile even for those of us who often doing not like tourist activities.

Reviewed 23 June 2014 via mobile

Most spectacular location.. The walk down to the beach was absolutely breathtaking. Must visit. The lunch served was appetizing and fresh. The reserve is well preserved and the guides were careful to see we did no damage to the natural habitat.

“A must do in Knysna”
Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

The featherbed Eco tour and walk is a must do in Knysna . Before you go check the weather , if it's raining don't go . It's a very popular tour and if you looking for peaceful solitude go for a walk in the Knysna Forrest instead . How ever if you want a scenic walk with spectacular views and witty informative guides then this is the tour for you . The walk is over uneven ground and in some areas there are no rails . You need to be physically capable of doing the walk . The views of the Indian Ocean and Knysna are magical . After the walk there is a excellent buffet with the highlight being ice cream and chocolate sauce . Then it's back in the boat for a scenic trip back to Knysna . If you enjoy the trip remember to not be a cheap skate and TIP THE GUIDE .

“A natural experience”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

By far this is the best nature experience of Knysna with the possibilities to stretch your legs. A beautiful walk through pure nature down to the coast gives you unlimited view of the lagoon and you can spot the antelopes and birds of Knysna. In Combination with the boat ride over and a sumptuous lunch not to be missed
