Very nice, quiet and well located place on the top of a hill with a beautiful view over the lagune of knysa). very friendly and helpful host (vanessa) who gave us a lot of tips what to do in and around Knysna. Our room (Mykons) was probably the biggest and most beautiful room in this nice house. Huge bathroom and a fitting room. Nice pool in a pretty garden.

Room Tip: Try to get the room Mykonos (or Santorin) - on the "top-floor"

We just loved our stay here! Vanessa could not have been more helpful or knowledgable with her genuinely kind concern. You cannot beat this view anywhere and the breakfast proved delicious, while elegantly served. The pool also made us sorry to leave.

Room Tip: Choose one with a view, for sure.

My wife, Chris, and I had only made reservations for accommodation for the first four days and last couple of days of our 16 day trip to the Western Cape of South Africa and decided to wing it for the intervening period. Having struggled to secure suitable digs in Hermanus we decided to use Booking.com to find our next port of call. We fancied Knysna and the Blue Oyster leapt off the page at us as we browsed what was on offer. We booked for six nights and corresponded with Vanessa re directions and parking which were spot on. On arrival we were shown to a room with a view so spectacular it took our breath away. From its position perched on the hillside above Knysna the panorama of the estuary, the town and the river mouth between two elevated heads is one to be cherished for a long time.
The room is simple and has a great shower/bathroom and a dressing room with loads of wardrobe space. It has patio windows leading on to a balcony with the aforementioned view and on the opposite side of the room are more windows overlooking a small tidy garden with swimming pool and water feature. The bed was very comfortable and we were pampered with pillows. I think I counted 14 pillows or cushions. There are also plenty of power points for charging phones, cameras, iPads etc.
Breakfasts are served in a dining room with the same views as from our bedroom and were delicious. There is also a well furnished lounge area adjoining an honesty bar.
Vanessa also gave us invaluable advice on the best places to eat and even went to the trouble of arranging transport for us to and from the restaurants in town. There are several very good restaurants in Knysna from the waterfront seafood places to gourmet establishments hidden down side streets.
Her recommendations for local attractions were equally useful and we were fortunate enough to see whales and walk with cheetahs while we were in the area.
In summary, Knysna is a fabulous place to be based for a week with plenty to keep you occupied and the Blue Oyster is definitely the place to stay while you are there.

Room Tip: The room we were allocated was called Mykonos and was probably the largest room available. I assume...

My wife and I went there after getting married. Everything from the moments we walked in to the moment we walked out was just spot on. The place is very clean and neat, friendly staff and beautiful Kysna view. All the restaurants and activities that Vanessa recommended were spot on. We enjoyed the featherbed boat cruise and the Tapas menu. My wife want us to visit again sometimes next year.

Room Tip: Top rooms have nice view

We were really impressed with the Blue Oyster. Myself, my girlfriend and my parents stayed for two nights. The breakfast was our favourite of the holiday and Vanessa clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. Visits to Plettenburg bay, the Knysna Elephants and Knysna itself are all well worth the stay. The bedrooms were immaculate and we really enjoyed chilling our in the lovely lounge area. The highlight of the accommodation is the amazing view over Knysna - simply fantastic. Would recommend!

My Self and My wife stayed here for 7 days over Easter. We absloutley loved our stay here.
From the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out we only got the best 6* service. Everything Vanessa recommended was spot on, from the day trips to the restaurants.
We stayed in the Mykonos room which was Immaculate and spacious with the most spectacular view over the Lagoon. We felt so comfortable that it was like home away from home with only one difference, The View from our Room, One of the most amazing views in the world...We Will definitely be back. Thank You Very Much Vanessa for your Hospitality...

Room Tip: definitely request the Mykonos Room. It is Grand and has the Most Amazing Views...

Roland and I were honored to spend some time at The Blue Oyster in Knysna...... we were doing a short trip from PE through to CT - we live in Canada, and it was the first visit for Roland to South Africa, and staying at the Blue Oyster just blew him away! the accommodation is fabulous, colorful, warm, romantic, and stylish, and as for the awesome yummy bathroom with garden view! ooh la la! we loved it, big-time! add some candles and a bottle of bubbly..... well, we leave the rest up to your imagination........

The views were exceptional, absolutely exceptional, and the sense of well being projected by Vanessa and Charmaine made everything that much more pleasureable, truly, a special word of thanks to Charmaine, she is a total gem and made our stay fantastic!

Great view, food, accommodation, exotic bath, and excellent management team - you cannot afford to miss out staying here at some time in your travels and we hope one day to return for another visit, next time we are in South Africa

Roland and Olivia Clark

Room Tip: The room with a view from bedroom and bathroom, of course!!!!
