For a stay of only 2 nights, Elephant Hide completely blew us away. They arranged dinners lunches, spa days as well as the champers, flowers and rose petals on the bed. No request was too much and the hospitality was kind and always prompt.

Room Tip: The last room at the edge of the property was just heaven...

From the moment we arrived It was a marvellous experience. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and nice. The rooms and accommodation was certainly the best we stayed in during our travels in South Africa and the breakfasts were probably the best as well! The one evening meal we had was gorgeous and the views from the hotel are fantastic.

We stayed here for two nights while travelling the garden route. The views from the room was gorgeous. The room and bathrom was very clean and very well decorated. They had everything you needed, the staff was very helpful with plenty of information about where to go locally. I would definitely recommend the lodge to others and woud love to go back.

We stayed for 3 nights in a lagoon room on our honeymoon, it was breathtaking the room had a double shower in a wet room, huge panoramic windows and stunning views over knynsa lake from everywhere in the room. The breakfasts were superb, make sure you have a smoothie :) Ryan and fish were very helpful and made some really good suggestions of what to do and where to go. We would defiantly stay there again and would recommend to anyone thinking of going to stay there.

We stayed for three nights at the elephant lodge and had a wonderful time.

The rooms are well presented, furnished well and comfy. The shower and bathroom is a real plus point – the views from the shower/ bath over the river/ lake/ valley are beautiful, especially of an evening when the sky breaks into awesome colours.

I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to bed size and room temperature, but both were perfect within the lodge. The air con is silent so it doesn’t keep you awake and the bed is large enough to sprawl!

The service was great – not to in your face, but there whenever we needed. We felt very welcomed into the warm and friendly lodge. The staff go out of their way to make your stay as personal as possible i.e. restaurant recommendations/homemade flap jacks in your room/ suggestions regarding what to do in the area.

Perhaps the best part of the stay is the breakfast….. fresh, delicious and in a great setting.

One thing to note is the lodge doesn’t do evening meals and isn’t walk-able to restaurants…… given the private location with stunning views the latter is a fair trade off. In terms of evening meals, we found it nice to head out and explore Knysna. I think the lodge has BBQ facilities for those wishing to stay in and cook.

My partner and I had three nights here and can't recommend it highly enough. Stunning views over the lagoon, excellent 'boutique' rooms with everything you'd need, great breakfasts and lovely staff (Fish was extremely helpful and courteous). Lots to do in and around Knysna and some great restaurants (would especially recommend the Phantom Forest) down by the water.

My husband and I stayed at the lodge in the Fynbos suite (Room 1), from the 4th to the 9th of March 2012 for our honeymoon. It was a spectacular experience with amazing activities on the honeymoon package. The room was very clean and had its own patio, air conditioning/heating, and massive windows. There are partial views of the lagoon from the bedroom but it really does not take away from the experience. The bathroom was ideal for a romantic getaway, with a jacuzzi bath and double shower, with views looking out onto the lagoon.
Breakfast was fantastic (especially the parmesan pancake!) and we were served with a personal touch every morning. The rim pool at the main lodge was awesome, very clean and with magnificent views off the edge.
Stunning!
