Elephant Hide is a really fantastic place to stay, great views over the Knysna Lagoon. Private rooms, and most friendly staff. The Utermark family made us feel very welcome, with lots of ideas of what to do and where to go. We cant wait to get back there!
PS. great breakfasts! Would be a lovely place for honeymooners too...

Wonderful location and a warm friendly welcome by the fabulous staff.
The Elephant Hide Guest Lodge is most attractive, situated high on the eastern hills overlooking the inner reaches of the Knysna lagoon and over the forest to the Outeniqua Mountains beyond. The village of Belvedere is across the water and there is nothing to spoil the view or the peace. The lodges are built with care and to a very high standard, each with unimpeded views from the very well appointed bedroom, deck and sensational deep whirlpool bath, surrounded by an attractive natural garden of indigenous flora. The herby scents night and morning are very invocative the unique "Cape Fynbos", which has been just manicured into a tranquil surrounding. The breakfasts are wonderfully different and prepared to an exceptionally high standard, and nothing is too much trouble for the superb house manager, Fish Only 2 nights is not enough – this would be a place to retreat and recharge tired batteries. There are numerous restaurants within 3 – 5 miles from the Lodge and many attractions in the area to keep the most discerning traveller occupied. Highly recommended.

I have been a hotelier for 16 years and I run a large Hotel for an International Chain Brand, to go to this guest house was an absolute pleasure, we could not have been better fed and pampered.

Our rooms was fantastic, overlooking the lagoon, it was spotless and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great, nice to have a choice for breakfast and the presentation was better than some hotels i have seen.

All round, we could not fault the service or product and would highly recommend the hide as "the place to go!!"

Stayed for two nights. Rooms are lovely with views over the lagoon. Huge windows give a real sense of space. Bathroom was lovely with a great bath for sharing and supping a cold beer whilst looking out onto the lagoon. Nice quiet spot away from the bustle. Breakfast was very good with a whole range of hot and cold options. In room spa treatments were organised by the hotel, very cheap and high quality.

We have just returned from SA and spent 2 superb nights at the Elephant Hide.
The rooms are amazing with superb views over the lagoon. Each lodge is totally separate and gives an enormous sense of space.
Breakfast on the terrace was excellent as was the service at all times.
The staff were all delightful and Fish was outstanding, what a lovely gentle man. He was always around to greet you and nothing was too much trouble
We loved it and hope to go back

We were recommended to stay at the Elephant Hide Lodge by a friend in Cape Town and we were so delighted with our stay there that I wanted to ensure others got to know about this little gem.

The lodge is made up of 7 detached lodges set above Knysna with super views of the lagoon, each lodge is spacious and finished to a very high standard.

Elephant Lodge is a family concern and brothers Ryan and Craig ensure that your stay is very pampered...even down to having our hire car washed evry morning whilst we enjoyed their gorgeous breakfasts in the main lodge.

We would definately stay again.

We stayed at this lodge for just two days but wish we could have stayed longer. It sits atop a hill overlooking a lagoon just a couple of minutes drive to the center of Knysna.

The main lounge is charming. In front is an infinity pool which overlooks the lagoon. Wifi is free in this area. There was a small problem with it when we were there but Craig (the owner) drove to the hotel in barely 5 minutes and fixed it - we were impressed.

Each room is an individual log-type cabin/villa. The bedroom is of a good size with a large. well-stocked mini-bar. Storage space is ample. The bathroom is huge with a jacuzzi bath and two showers! Attention to detail is fantastic - bath salts, bath oil, and candles are just some of the little things they offer. The windows are huge so views are great and oh yes, each room has a veranda with a good view.

Breakfast is served by the owners themselves ( Louise offers a wonderful honey toasted meusli that you must try - its seriously good). They offer a very substantial variety of freshly prepared items.

Bear in mind that as with many other guest houses, you will need a car to get around.
