“Out Of Season Delight”
Reviewed 1 April 2007

A stay in March 07, Leisure Isle is quite tranquil & Isola Bella's location is first class as are it's views. Original attempts to stay at other B&B's on leisure Isle met with sorry wer'e full, one actually endorsed Isola Bella, & from there contact was made direct in a prompt and business like manner, good attention to detail both with the booking and the accomodation..

We had the feeling that if we could have negotiated a rate a fact seemingly underlined in a overheard conversation with an opportunist guest who called and negotiated a rate for a one night stay.

Our experience was of clean somewhat clinical accomodation, if you like neutral colours and masses of white & net curtains it's for you. It was rather expensive by comparison to other B&B's and small hotels we stayed at which all had a five star accreditation as opposed to Isola Bella's four.

Marisa offers excellent endorsments, places to visit, restaurants etc and holds court over everything she surveys, this lady clearly has a busy lifestyle and this was reflected in the greeting we received on arrival, no-one at home but a note on the door.... we departed with the feeling that our host's hectic lifestyle seems takes precidence over that of her guests, that apart we were made literaly feel at home,

Plus points: well managed clean pristine accomodation, excellent location with superb views, breakfast while convenient to prepare needs more variation, Down side pricey for what you get....

The TV mounted high up on the lounge wall is a mystery, which gave as a bad neck crick, but that's no justification not to book a stay at Isola Bella.

I just wanted to inform you about an unpleasant experience that we had at Isola Bella in Knysna. We booked a reservation thru Expedia and Marisa Murphy the owner/hostess of Isola Bella failed to honor our reservation despite the fact that we had full paperwork for the reservation. We had a four night reservation from Dec. 26-30th and admittedly received a good price. A cursory view of the internet quickly led us to realize that she had turned around and resold our room at a higher rate. So basically, we were left out on the street at 9:30pm on Dec. 26th without a room. Her dishonesty and greed was absolutely appaling. To top it off, she was upset that we interrupted her while she was at dinner. Cher at Leisure Isle Lodge down the street was nice enough to take us in. I must say that Leisure Isle was an absolute find...beautiful rooms, great service and amazing food. I cannot say enough about how nice they were to us in a time of such need.

Please know that I would never cancel your booking. This was a genuine error caused by an online booking system ( I no longer use it ). I rectified the situation by finding very good alternative accommodation. I apologised profusely and went to visit the guests the next day to ensure that they were ok.

We stayed at Isola Bella for 2 nights in January 2007 and wished it could have been longer. What a wonderful place! With the exception of a very expensive safari lodge, this was probably our favorite lodging in South Africa. The rooms are beautiful and everthing is very tasteful and so fresh. We slept so well and the views every morning over the lagoon and the Knysna Heads were fabulous. I couldn't recommend Isola Bella and Marisa your charming hostess more highly. I would definitely stay here if I returned to this part of South Africa. Bravo!!
