We spent 7 nights at Amanzi Lodge and we couldn't have made a better choice. The room had a stunning view of the beach was beautifully furnished and well appointed with 2 bathrooms. The staff were friendly, efficient and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast, taken on the balcony, was delicious and varied. Amanzi is situated in a prime position on Leisure Isle, a lovely, quiet and idyllic area of Knysna. We had a really relaxing time there and would love to return soon. This is a B&B we would readily recommend.

Room Tip: Room 3 is spacious, has stunning views and a lovely sunny balcony.

We stayed for five nights in January. Wish it had been a longer stay. We had a deluxe first floor room with a balcony with a side view of the lagoon, as the superior front facing rooms were already booked. It was, however, a brilliant choice. Amanzi is beautifully decorated throughout and our room was no exception. It was very spacious with a lovely bathroom and plenty of closet space. It was very comfortable and private. Breakfasts were great and the staff lovely. Only one comment in that a couple of easy chairs or loungers on our balcony would have been fantastic.
I fell in love with Amanzi and the lagoon. We are definitely returning in 2015!

Room Tip: Everywhere is lovely in Amanzi!

We visited Amanzi Lodge in January whilst touring the Garden Route. What a beautiful place to stay for a few nights. The room was very comfortable with all the facilities you could possibly need, the staff friendly and helpful. If you want to be away from the hub-bub of the town to enjoy tranquility and peace yet within easy striking distance of good restaurants, golf courses and safe swimming this could well be the place for you. We are definitely going back!

We are return guests of Amanzi and are pleased to report that the change of ownership has not lowered the standards of this beautiful guesthouse; in fact there are some welcome improvements and additions that make Amanzi our favorite guesthouse in all of SA.

The location directly on the shores of Knysna lagoon is fantastic; Leisure Isle is safe and tranquil, and the lagoon offers endless possibilities for swimming, walking, or kayaking depending on the tide. The interior of the house has been further upgraded and the colors (blue and white) reflect the lagoon; the rooms are bright, spacious and nicely appointed (including very comfortable king size beds, fluffy bathrobes and towels, air conditioning, luxury bath products, and great WiFi); and the breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon, is as good as ever. Not to forget the honesty bar, the lovely swimming pool in the secluded garden, and the new shuttle service to some of the nearby restaurants. The new managers and staff are all very friendly and helpful, nothing really was too much trouble. Well done, Amanzi, and we'll be back again and again...

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are facing the lagoon and offer great views of the Knysna Heads; but the garden ro...

After reading many Trip Advisor comments, our usual research and speaking to friends who had recommended visiting Knysna and suggested that it would be best to stay on Leisure Island as opposed to being in town -- we opted for that and selected Amanzi Island Lodge. We were extremely happy to have done so. Looking back now , after having visited the area and the waterfront, we would definitely stay on Leisure Island again -- and would go back to Amanzi as we really loved the atmosphere there.

We had a beautiful deluxe lagoon-facing room on the ground floor with a great patio with a fabulous view of the Knysna Heads. The room itself was large, bright and airy with a huge bed and super bathroom combo room - separate sunken bath and separate huge shower room -- beautifully designed.

It was lovely to be able to walk on the beach right in front of the lodge and especially to walk on the sandbanks at low tide practically all the way to the Heads -- and even more amazing to look at that same view a few hours afterwards with a high tide and of course no way of going across.

Breakfast was excellent in the sunny dining room ( or you could eat outdoors) and the entire lodge had a calming blue and white seaside look which was very tastefully designed.

The staff was very accommodating and made excellent recommendations re dining suggestions.

There was a free shuttle bus to some of the nearby restaurants on the island which was good to use in the evening -- even though we had a car -- when you are unsure of the area ( even with a GPS) going up on hills on narrow winding roads in the dark can be daunting, especially when we were used to driving "on the other side".

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Deluxe lagoon-facing room had an beautiful view and was lovely

We had two nights at Amanzi Island lodge and it was perfect! We had a lagoon facing room which was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the little touches really made it for me. Charlotte Rhys candle gift, lovely Charlotte Rhys shampoo, soap etc... New (and very decent collection) of magazines, powerful hair dryer etc... Attention to detail was spot on. Breakfast was great and the service from the staff could not be faulted. Amanzi lodge offered great value for money, in an amazing location. I would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Lagoon facing room upstairs.
