“Fantastic Cafe!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

I went for a breakfast at Cafe Throbb, and one of the waitresses noticed me receiving a gift from a family member, and secretly offered to organise me a little birthday treat. She came out after we had breakfast with a delicious eclair with a candle and a birthday message written in chocolate! I was so touched and very impressed. Their attention to detail and the personal touches are refreshing, and the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. They bake all their breads and cakes on site, and their pizza oven keeps the room warm. I also highly recommend their breakfasts, I had a very simple eggs with toast and mushrooms, but everything was fresh, not greasy and very tasty - and excellent value for money. I saw french toast and flapjacks going to other customers that looked incredible too :) Highly recommended!

“Space for improvement”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

A new kid on the block, same space as the famous Petite Pain that moved month ago into a new spot around the corner...
I was invited from a Johannesburg friend during the Oyster Festival....we had the Wild mushroom risotto and cool drink....please be aware this restaurant is not liquor licensed!!! The risotto was OK, but lacked the mushrooms, therefore a lot of truffle oil....risotto is not a easy thing to prepare, takes time and should be served fresh and not reheated....
The freshly backed bread does not come closed to the top stand that we are used in this town. Maybe a bread backing course with Markus from Isle de Pain is advisable....
Well Knysna is not a easy place to survive for a small restaurant and has to live of the locals most of the year....good luck!

“Excellent food, great service!”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Since its opening a couple of weeks ago, this cafe has already become our favorite breakfast and lunch venue. The food is consistently good and tasty and freshly prepared. We have tried many different dishes from the extensive menu and you really can't go wrong in this place. The staff is very friendly, professional and enthusiastic and really makes you feel home. Meal appreciation is always done by the manager with a warm smile. Very pleasant interaction between staff and customers. Nice atmosphere, both inside and outside. Carrot cake and red velvet cake to die for! A wonderful new asset for Knysna!
