“A few days in Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2010

We spent four nights at this very special Guest House and would definitely go again. The decor, comfort, cleanliness, and food were absolutely outstanding. The views are incredible and the service impeccable. Ross and Bianca are attentive, friendly but not intrusive hosts and you are genuinely made to feel that nothing is too much trouble.

This place was extra special and one of the highlights of our trip. The place was stunning, the little touches just wonderful, eating breakfast on the balcony was a highlight. We travelled all along the garden route for our honeymoon and this place was one highlight I will always remember

We have stayed in many top 5* hotels around the world but Villa Africana beats them all. We stayed for 7 nights and are we glad we did. We arrived to a wonderful warm welcome from Ross and Bianca and a room (The Spitzkop Suite ) to die for. The views from the balcony were fantastic, the beautiful room was spacious . The cleanliness perfect.
Breakfast was served on your own balcony each morning and a wonderful selection of fruits, pastries , eggs etc.The service was as good as you would get anywhere.Ross and Bianca were fantastic, they love this small hotel or B/B . They designed and had it built 4 years ago. It is fantastic, just like the pictures show on the Web.They are always there to help with bookings of Golf Restaurants etc.
Food is available between 12.00 and 7.30 from salads to lasagne etc and of a high standard. There is an honesty bar , a lovely relaxing area outside to have a drink or read if you do not want to be on your own balcony. A lovely pool area with comfy beds. Most visitors we met were only staying 2 or 3 days but that would not be enough.
There are several golf courses in the area and we played a Jack Nicklaus 5*course called SIMOLA, Ross booked it for us. Club hire was only 150rands.
There are lots of restaurants and The Tapas and Sirrocco on Thesen Island and JJs at the harbour front were the best we ate at, although all were good. The hotel overlooks the Lagoon and the Heads and is at the top of a hill. A car is a must. Although we did walk into Knysna and back one morning, getting rid of a few calories. It took us 15 mins going down and a tough 25 mins getting back. Knysna is very safe and we had a great time. Plenty to see and not far by car to many sightseeing venues. Would we return, yes tomorrow. If you take our advise and book ,add a couple of extra days. You will not regret it. The rates in the high season were a little more than we paid elsewhere. You get what you pay for in live and that was certainly true her. Thanks Ross and Bianca for an exceptional week.

While passing through Knysna one night while traveling the Garden route, my girlfriend and I logged onto TripAdvisor.com from a mobile phone, picked the most highly-rated hotel in town, and phoned asking if they happened to have a room for the night. Ross and Bianca greeted us at the Villa's gate, and showed us their hotel as if it were our own luxury home and they our best friends. Our room, its vista of the bay, their suggestions where to dine that night, and the breakfast they delivered on our balcony the next morning were all extraordinarily good. We rate Villa Afrikana as good as any stay we've had at Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons hotels in Europe and Asia. Had we known of Villa Afrikana beforehand, we would have stayed longer. We'll certainly stay there when next we're in South Africa and along the Garden Route.

This hillside contemporary boutique hotel is gorgeous with stunning views of Knysna Bay. Our room was beautiful and breakfasts on our terrace were divine. The perfect lux hideaway while enjoying the beauty of Knysna and surrounding area. The owners are wonderful and will take good care of your needs.

This really is a 5 star guest house. Ross, Bianca and their team could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one.
The suites are superb, modern, spacious, very clean and very well appointed.
The "honesty" bar is well stocked and views from the lounge and terrace are breath taking.
If you're visiting Knysna there's no where else you should look to stay
